Interesting hunt...

     Been in the process of moving over the last wk, way too much chit going on right now to fool with hunting... but an old friend had been beggin' me to take a contact of his for a hunt for almost a yr now... and, as figures, today was the only window for us to make it happen.

     I'm not gonna lie, alot of people ask me to take them hunting... I'm sure many of you know what I am talking about.  While I love to share experiences like this with new people, this is a very competitive sport to invite anybody and everybody to come with... when you work hard, do favors/pull favors just for the opportunity to "maybe" drop your dogs on a new spot... it is complicating(to say the least) to ask to bring another person, particularly an "observer" lol... I could go on about this aspect of the game I know, but I will get back to the story lol 

    ... so, it was not easy... I shouldn't have hunted, but....  .... an old friend called in a favor, and I felt obliged to facilitate.

... had no damn idea who this cat was that I was supposed ta take hunting, all I had been told was that "he won't slow you down" lol...  That was damn sure an understatement

... this hunt has made me contemplate some things I have not thought of in quite a while.

... the older I get, the harder it seems it is to find an individual that actually impresses me enough to afford the time to provide the time/opportunity to (possibly) build some sort of freindship.

I am, as I'm sure many of you can relate, too f#cking busy these days to go on "blind dates" lol with husbands/boyfriends of my wife's girlfriends cousin's brother in law lol... I have my handful of loyal(may I repeat), LOYAL freinds... freinds that have been through some sho-enuff good times and BAD BAD TIMES LOL.... creating a bond very hard to fabricate in a few "man-dates" HAHA... but again... I digress 

... guy was nice as he could be, when we talked I told him all my good props were covered up in deer hunters, but if he was truly desperate lol... I "knew somebody" that could hook us up for a decent place.   Called in a favor(which I will not forget Daniel), and my guest drove all night to meet us "zero-dark-thirty" lol at the gate...

Hahaha... sorry yall, events like today that force me to understand myself better are few and far between lol...  trying to communicate the intricacies of which can be quite difficult... thereby justifying the "mental breaks" betwixt paragraphs 

    Turns out this dude is a PH(Professional Hunter/big game guide) in Africa, in less than a few minutes... I had heard enough stories of injuries/amputations/and death to write a damn book... suddenly, my "little hog hunt" didn't seem so exciting(to me anyways lol... although he still seemed to be quite pumped  )

    ... so was a good morning to hunt, we eased in a big deer-dog lease and the sound of walkers was thoroughly in the air before we finally happened upon an old boy that told us about a solid hog track they'd seen on the property... found the track, kicked our 3 best "track dogs" out on it lol... Shine, Whaler, and Camo... dogs beat around for a good 30 min before Shine/Whaler pulled out... Camo said "to HELL with that old track" and came back to the truck   

    ... another 30min of trailing went on, Whaler took it over, poppin' out on the road waaaay down, then Shiner.... we sat and watched as they struggled to work it out, finally, both dogs headed down into the biggest, baddest damn thicket/bayhead on this whole damn place lol... of course

   ... mom and son got in there about 600yds into the belly of this hell hole before they came bayed.  Sat there for a bit to make sure it was settled before we made our way in.  I grabbed Bucho and the other 4 men set in behind me as we worked in toward the bay... about a hundred yds from it we hit "the wall" lol... literally a 20' tall "wall" of tangled myrtle brush, black briars, and ty-ty vines... in patches of cold ass/nut deep water lol... let the crawling commence 

There were no discernable trails, as I painstakingly weaved us through the thicket toward the bay... it became increasingly obvious if chit hit the fan, none of us had ANY way of getting out of the way lol... heard the hog growl at the dogs at around 30yds... instantly knew this was damn sure a good one... suddenly, I had visions of how this might compare to someone that had hunted wounded Cape Buffalo up close and personal... 

... got to within' 20feet and sent Bucho in... it was so thick he literally had to "climb" his way in the whole way.  Heard him get there when the boar roared at him, broke, then ran right for us lol    ... and luckily, right by us... Shine/Whaler the old bugger on for well over a couple hrs/miles before Shine actually fell out/ and Whaler continued on... even ol' Whaler finally gave out an hour later...

 ...was one smart sumbitch....

... good day regardless.... hope I get to do more chit with this individual in the future.  (I would greatly like to re-tell some of his stories, but I just feel funny tellin' another man's hard earned stories... I will, however, record them for posterity just in case

Pretty good story. I would be interested to know what he thought about the situation with that big boar headed ur way and the chance of quick evasion almost none.

Don't ya hate taken someone out, putting them on a hog, and having it break and run for hours when you were so close to catching it??? I hate that, but it's all part of it. Some of them ol smart suckers take a few times of back breaking hunting to get stopped and caught. Good story Noah! Thanks for sharing.

happened to us not even a week ago. Mr. James actually had a hand on that devil and he still gave us the slip.......it happens lol
