Has anyone used a remote training collar with shock correction to teach caught hog? I was thinking of using this on the stubborn dogs as opposed to constantly kicking at them while dragging the hog towards the truck. (I have some young dogs that like to rush in for a quick grab constantly before I knock em off) I at the same time though don't want to scare them off the hogs. Any input appreciated.

Kick em harder.... For real though, let em know that hog is yours and they needa give you space. I usually teach pups this with my lead and swing it like a windmill  Grin Grin Now for my catch dogs I just tie em to a tree and I'll come back and get em or take em to the truck first!!

yell caught hog when they make a run for a quick bite and smack them in the nose while yelling caught hog and u may even bite them on their ear for added measure.

Like they said yell caught hog and and give them a smack but I like to use something that makes a lot of noise like a lil limb with a bunch of leaves on it when you swing you can hear the leaves and the wind behind it  For me that works a lot better and faster than just whooping one down Done both ways but this it what works for me

yep a stick will work and a small branch is better as suggested, but...I am a firm believer in an ecollar as the message is relayed instantly  to the dog e.g. if I do this.....I get zapped....rather than a few seconds later...I think this helps turn there ears on quicker

It will work for CD's as well....no need to tie them to trees...

i like the e-collar for this type of training but it is done by the command of a certain word in the yard at a young age rather than in the woods on a hog . the word  NO  works just as well as  [ caught hog ] and can be used to correct a lot differant problems . and can be taught in the yard with a piece of hide instead of trying to train dogs in the woods on a hunting situation . in other words try and have your dogs obeying commands in a controled invironmt  BEFORE  the actual need arises in the hunt  . when i hollar leave that alone my dogs know to get back long before they are ever even introduced to a hog or coon or squirrel whatever i'm a huntin  .
