And we wonder why we have so many useless culls...peoe like you concerned more in making a dollar then breeding good dogs and culling the sorry ones.

Right on their brother. My yella dogs I could get no tellin what kinda money for, guarrantee them and get very few back from people that would later wished they had more patience or knowledge of good dogs. I understand someone trying to get back a lil of what they put into it. But let's all face the reality, if we could make a good living just hog hunting, not the first one of us would have a job. I personally GIVE AWAY the puppies I don't have the room or time for to either someone I know will bring out all the dogs potental, a kid who is wanting to get into the sport, or someone who is going to make it a pet so I'll always have a few to go back to if my bloodline runs thin. I have always felt if I exepted some of the very generous offers I have been made on some or sold the pups id be doing this for then wrong reasons. I run hogdogs because I love the dogs!!!!

OK, had to jump into this. Got my bud into this hog catchin deal a cpl years ago and like all newbies he thought every dog that was bred for catchin hogs or cows was a good prospect. He hunted with me a year or so a decided he wanted a dog of his own. Well i gave him a pretty decent well bred dog that a lot of people would have gave a lot of money for. Well he got that fever we all know and had to have another. So his nabors birddog jumps the fence and breeds his lil collie/heeler dog and 63 days later he got pups. He calls me and asked me what he should do. I said cull quick but no he dont. He talked about these damn stupid dogs for 6 months and how they did this and did that with the hot dog and the bay pen and mock hunts and all along i said whatever. Well let me tell you, these two lil fockers he kept that are 8 months old are some go yonder gamey dudes. They mite not live long but this guy put a lot of time and patience in and i tip my hat to him for this. He took a accidental breeding and gave it his all and i am very proud of him for doing this. Guess every once in a while it works out.

Sorry let me correct myself( I'm not trying to make anything I promise this isn't a profitable deal anyway you lose.)(BA-IV posted- And we wonder why we have so many useless culls...people like you concerned more in making a dollar then breeding good dogs and culling the sorry ones) what I meant was that if I was to get 500 a piece I still wouldn't profit anything considering what I have in these dogs and every hog hunter knows that vet bill, vaccinations, wormer, and feed no way u can make anything besides guided hunts other than that no way and by the way my bird dog jip is a hunting machine she found her first hog on her third hunt and the male I plan on breeding to her he is a sure enough shut em down finished strike dog I just figured I would try and get a silent high energy good nose with a lot of hunt medium range rough hog dog. Just wondering if any of you had one or has tried this cross and if not what do u think this cross would turn out like. Thank you.

personally i would try it. especially if your having a hard time getting your hands on pups out of "proven" lines. Or you if you just want to try something new. Lets face it...at one time all these cur lines today came from a cross, most likely a houndXbulldog...that was many many moons ago. If you dont plan on keeping the whole litter, dont expect to get much if anything from this first time cross/eperiment. Best bet would be to keep the ones you dont want close by with family and friends....that way if it did work, you had others to work with to breed back to sire and dam (if that was the plan). Just remember CULL hard, and you just might come up with somethin

I said it and there was nothing wrong with what I said.
If you do this for the dogs, then making your money back doesn't cross your mind. You know from the get go that you will never make what you put into it. Wanting a gyp to have 15 pups to make a bunch of money is flat out ridiculous no matter what way you look at it. The cross may be awesome but you are doing it for the wrong reasons if all your worried about is money and that's exactly what your first post was about.

Well that aint the way I saw it. Looked to me like you were trying to sell 15 puppies for 125.00 out of two dogs that had never been breed before. I'd say give it a try. GIVE the puppies away and see how they turn out. Like some one said already CULL HARD.
