I got a catch dog that i really dont know his true age but looks and acts young. Ok my question is he knows what a bay is and has a heck of a grip when he catches but here lately i have bin workin him in a pen and he hesitates the first time i work him before he catches. Then after that he runs in there like a bat out of hall but misses most of the time. Will he grow out of this or when they start this will they keep doing it. When he does catch he pulls the hog down by folding his front legs and uses his body weight. The hog that ive bin workin him on is about 80lb so it shouldn't b to big for him.

maybe try a bigger hog, one that'll get em mad and wanna catch. when he's going to a bay he dont know what he's fixing to run into he just does it. in the pen he sees a little hog and doesnt care as much. And with the missing practice makes perfect, heck ever pro ball player still miss from time to time lol but as long as he still makes the catch o well if he misses sometimes IMO. Just what it sounds like to me
