Rules of State Wide Hog Dog Challenge:
1. Registration and payment must be received no later than March 8, 2013 at 12:00pm. You may register by:
a. Mailing the entry form, along with payment, to PO Box 3132, Early TX 76802.
b. Payment may be made with a personal check, cashier’s check, or debit card. Make checks payable to Wayne Clark – Hooligan Hoggers.
2. Registration fee is $300 dollars per team and is non-refundable. Entry into side pots for largest boar, largest sow, longest tusk and most hogs killed will be an additional $20 per team.
3. Teams will consist of 1-4 members and can only be a member of ONE team. Each additional member after 4 on one team will be $75 per member.
Hunt Rules:
1. During the hunt, the hog must be caught by a dog prior to human handling and must not be roped, run over, or trapped first.
2. Dog and Knife teams are able to catch the hog alive for holding until check-in, if desired, but must be presented in field-dressed, eatable condition at the time of check- in, and the hog MUST NOT BE SHOT.
3. This contest is open to all legal hunters utilizing dogs for the purpose of harvesting feral hogs while hunting in Texas.
4. Team members must hunt together with one pack of dogs at a time. If a team member is not able to continue the hunt, substitutions cannot be made.
5. If, when hunting, the hogs and dogs split resulting in multiple bays, hunters are allowed to split up to harvest the wild hogs but must regroup as soon as possible to resume the hunt as one pack.
6. Team members are the only people permitted to actively participate in the hunt. When hunting a ranch, if necessary, the landowner is the only other person allowed to accompany the team.
7. For the purposes of this hunt, hogs are defined to be feral, free-ranging, wild hogs which have not been previously held, trapped, pen raised, and released for the purposes of being hunted in this contest and must not have been hunted from within a game fence.
8. The contest will start on March 8, 2013 at 12:00pm and will end at check-in on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 12:00pm SHARP.
9. Check-in will be at Rhino Linings of Early / Wildfire Truck Sales located on Highway 377 South in Early TX from 9:00am – 12pm on Sunday, March 10th ONLY.
10. An official time keeper/end of line Judge will determine the close of check-in.
11. No hogs arriving after close of check-in will be considered for the contest regardless of excuse, calling ahead, or any other unforeseeable circumstance. NO EXCEPTIONS! 12. Hogs harvested outside of the official contest duration will not count.
13. The Team Captain must be present at check-in.
14. All contestants must bring their hunting license to check-in.
15. Failure/Refusal of Lie Detector Test will result in immediate disqualification of team. 16. Any contestant found to be cheating, attempting to cheat, or in violation of any Texas Game Law will cause the disqualification of the entire team and forfeiture of any and all entry fees. The perpetrator and/or team may also be banned from future contests.
17. The team with the greatest total weight of their five heaviest field-dressed hogs over fifty pounds wins. We will not check in or weigh any more than five hogs.
18. 75% of the entry fees will be paid out in cash and prizes. The number, and amount, of paying places will be determined by the number of teams and any other added money. Side pots will pay one money per each of the categories. Make sure you leave the hog’s anatomy intact for contest purposes.
19. ALL HOGS MUST BE IN EATABLE CONDITION to count.
20. In the event of any ties within paying places, the team that checked in first will be given rank above the team it is tied with. The remaining teams will rank according to their weights. Ties within side pots will also be broken by order of check in.
21. There will be no alcohol permitted and no display of weapons (guns or knives) on one’s person on the check-in premises.
22. Anyone behaving in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner will be asked to leave. 23. Once the final decision of the contest officials is made, the decision stands.
Hooligan Hoggers or any event coordinator associated with this hunt will NOT be held responsible for any accidents that may occur during this competition.
