just curious how well these traps really work, ive always just used the ole guillotine trap door, but keep seeing these revolving door traps, that the hogs push in and it closes back after they walk through. been thinking about building a new trap but i wanted to hear from you guys that have used these.

I am not familar with the exact one you are talking about but in general most people over think this stuff. The 3 best door I have used were all very simple.
1) swinging door with trot line string and a slick wire hook (for box traps)
2) perch trap style with cattle pannels
3) doggy door

by ''REVOLVING DOORS'' are you talking about plain ol push gates ? i like just setting a push gate open and haveing it spring loaded to close when tripped . you catch one for sure and others will push in after tripped . tryed just waiting for one to push in but it slowed down our catching .

I agree with Halfbreed that you will do better if they are "open".
All door types have an advantage and a disadvantage. My box traps have both. The back 4' is a guillotine gate from which they can't escape. The front 6' has continuous catch doors (saloon doors) so that others can continue to enter. I have had hogs in both sections.

That's a regular swing door. Some people use springs or weights. You need some kind if trip mechanism... String with hook, string with clamp, foot pedal, stick propped in the door...

They work great. All i do is run a piece of rope from the door over the roof in the back and put a stick in the ground. bait around the stick and wait. Ive caught up to five in my trap. My cousin bough a trap from TSC and we caught six in his and it has three swinging doors.

On you tube there are a few videos on some automatic trapping system. One of the ways it works is wireless...you can trip it by phone/computer. It also has like a wireless (automated sort of) tripping system...uses fishing line or what not but you set it a a height that only big pigs can hit. They explain it on the videos...the little ones..apparently...come in first, then the mature hogs. Talks about percentages caught of all hogs in sounder, etc, etc. Anyway, high tech but pretty cool videos.

Yeah the ole swing gates work great . I tie a hook hanging down and set the door on it in the up postion and run some weed eater string threw a dog clip clipped on the top of the panel then run the string to the back threw another dog clip and tie it to the other side of the pen when the hogs come in they trip the door and if others are there around with them they just push their way in when they see the other hog eating . LOL had a 8 foot long trap here a couple weeks ago had 7 hogs in it stuffed in so tight I could not hardly get the door open to load them LOL. Each one was over 100 lbs and a couple 150 lbs
