One the other side of the coin.  I aint give nobody I dont know a trial on any of my dogs with all the knuckle heads out there that dont know a thing really about good dogs to begin with no sir not me .  They will take your dog and screw your dog up for you is what will happen and then you are getting back a screwed up dog .  I let a man one time take a gyp now this bitch was a find dog and a damn good one to say the least only thing was she was a little mouthy on track but not that bad but I just dont care for a lot of noise on track after they find a hog some bark but not a lot .   He knew this come and hunted with her bought her .  A week are two later calling me saying she is to loud for him and bugged the living chit out of me for a long time well I took her back about a month are two later give the money back like a damn fool .  Get her back and o my Gawd she was trashing on any and everything she had done got open mouth all the way from all the damn trashing his dogs were doing and she went to doing it also is what happen nobody can tell me no different because this gyp was trash broke am not saying every once in a while she would not bump a deer but not chasing any and everything alive .  So I got back a hunk of chit that it took a long long time to straighten out again and he got all his money back .  Nope you can come hunt with me but when you hand me the money and buy her in the woods that dog is yours bar damn none !

Anyway...listed her just as i described her and moved her to a guy out west an hour or so. He hunts a strike dog and 3 RCD's. She was exactly what he was looking for. He has hunted her a few times and LOVES her!

My rambling point is...you can find what your lookin for alot of times on the dog trade but you just gotta be careful.

yes Kevin, one mans style of hunting dog is another mans cull...but the truth... is where it can get tricky...

My point is if someone says they want a couple hundred for a dog and you want to take it home and trial hunt it then you probably don't know what your doing to start with anyways a good bred puppy cost that much but this is the exact reason why a guy can't sell good dogs for what they are worth. Hell it cost a couple hundred dollars a year to feed a dog, get his shots, water him, etc.. Then you take a dog hunting for a year just to see if he will hunt, not trash, etc then you offer a dog that's a good SOB for $1000 and everybody wants to look and pick his ass apart. Oh well I'm just rambling there's more weekend warriors and wanna be's on here than there are good dog men. And the good dog men will not take any offense to this post because they know who they are.

I mainly sell pups for people like friends. Well a couple month back I was going to buy a gyp and trade a gun for her also. Talked to the guy and he seemed nice said he would give me a 3 week trial and hold my gun(Remington  model 700 243 with scope) for her. I tryed her on 8 different occasions. Had her for almost 2 months. Put her in pig sign and she would not hunt. Well the guy said if I did not like the he would today give me my gun back.... Called and called texted him n everything. Ended up selling her for a brood gyp n she will hunt for the man but would not hunt for s woman. I got screwed and the guy still has to this day returned my call. This is why I sell all dogs as started or pups. But I am always honest with the buyer. Yes I sell a lot of dogs too. But they are mainly for friends.

I think every dog u sell needs to be if it dont satisfy the person then they can bring it back in same shape you should refund them their money .. now if its like my case was and the dude waits 4 weeks then tryes to bring him back ... no ... i usually give all 2 week trials on the dogs i sell .. starting from 6 months and up ... now i have had to give some money back to a guy one time .. but hey if i was in the same shoes where the dog didnt work for me .. i would like to get the same respect i give to others. jus th eguy i am ... Theres a handfull of good guys and gals on here ... but some also have two faces ..

If you buy a dog that's say still a puppy ( under a year old ) or cost
say $300 or less it's a gamble some work some don't. I can't believe the silly crap sone people put on here about trials. I could see putting the dog in a pen and showing it will bark at a pig but that's about it. If y'all no somebody who has 6 month old dogs that hunt out good enough that they will give a trial let me know I'll buy all of them. Lol

I feel that as long as a man is honest its my choice. I shy away from any man that talks a dog up he's selling. My ridgeback I was told he would catch didn't have a nose and would go with other dogs. He told me he wasn't jam up wasn't a real good dog and may not work for me. He also said if it didn't work out he would take him back. I am super happy with this dog. He does exactly what I was told he would do and more. He finds his own pigs will catch will wind one across a 40 ac field and will stay with one for miles. If he had only been what I was told he was I woulda been fine with that. Where I get mad is when a man says its top notch go getter and it won't leave my side and hunt. If I see the possibility of improvement or being a decent dog I can work with that as long as it wasn't advertised as more than it is.

You couldn't of said it any better. I don't sell many dogs 4 or 5 a year most of the time they are young dogs but if I have an older dog to sell it's prob because I don't like something about him and most times I'll just try to trade mine to someone that has a dog that they don't like. So in the end we either get happy or have the same thing we started with they just don't look the same!

I don't pay for a dog unless I know where you live. That way I know where to bring the dog back to. It is amazing how honest people are when you know where they live.

I had a guy trying to sell me a dog. I told him I only pay for a dog if I know where he lives. He said that even if you know where the guy lives it does not mean you will get your money back. I told him I would chain that dog in the man's front yard and if I did not get my money it would cost him way more than the money he took from me. He called back in thirty minutes and told me someone just bought the dog.

I only get puppies now and from people and lines I trust if I get a dog. I hope I will not be needing a dog from someone else for a few years.
