buddy of mine told me about a bad hog that tore up his dogs...about 2 years later I ran into the same hog...
It was about 11 pm and we were coming back from a corn field and a buddy said there was a small field we should check out and it was on the way back...The dogs were tired because we had made a long hunt and it was very hot and humid...I did not unload them because the field just didn't look like it had hogs...A kid named Nathan was along and Nathan and I walked down the edge of the field and all looked normal...no damage to corn and no hog sign whatsoever...a little further down we saw a culvert and it was holding a small amount of water...I thought if this field had any hogs there would have to be hog tracks around the waters edge...As we walked up and looked around we saw a very large hog track and it was fresh...I saw a blade of fresh green grass in the track...I told Nathan that that was a big bad boar hog that made that track and we were fixing to get on him shortly...
We went back to the truck and I unloaded 3 seasoned mt. cur dogs and two 10 month old pups (brother and a sister)...the old dogs were Smoke, trigger and Yeller...The pups were Fly and Banjo...The pups hunted almost as good as the old dogs and in no time Banjo opened up when he first hit the track and they packed up and went about 1/2 a mile and the fight was on...We could tell that the dogs were on him and the hog was moving slow at an angle towards the road right where the trucks were parked...We could hear some of the dogs cry out but they kept up the pressure...We took off down the road towards the trucks and by time we got there the dogs were cut down pretty close to the trucks...Banjo was hamstrung never to be the same again and fly didn't come out...we found her the next day and she recovered...The three old dogs recovered but they took a licking...my buddy wouldn't turn his dog out...I wanted his dog on that hog so I could go in and shoot that sucker...I told him that his dog would bay loose by himself but he wouldn't let him out...His dog was a good dog...he was out of the same dogs as my dogs...
I called my wife on the way home to have everything ready and when she saw the dogs she about lost it...
I am one of those that analyzes everything that is worthy of it and I can just say that this hog was a hater and killer of dogs...The next day I found out it was the same hog that had wrecked my other buddies dogs and he had some good dogs...I have a few other stories but this one stands out in my mind...

we are not 100 percent sure but this place does not hold many hogs...no otther tracks around and that hog was seen once in a while in that area when the corn was ready after that he moved on...lots of times the big boar hogs will live in out of the way places where they don't get much pressure...
I can't say for certain but I would bet my money on it...

Me and my old boss man were hunting for a couple of Charolais bulls in a wildlife management area. We heard there was a boar in there that was bad to cut and we had a run in with him that day. Boss mans rank yellow dog got flipped. When he hit the ground, that boar stuck his cutter in that dogs bung hole and run it all the way to his throat, spilling all his innards out on the ground. Pretty sickening, poor dog didn't have a chance. I tried pushing it back in but he bled out in no time. Caught the 2 bulls but lost a good dog. I never heard if anybody ever caught that bad SOB but I doubt it.

I've yet to catch this sucker..... He gave me 2 battle scars on my right tigh about an inch a half long each. This was prolly a year or longer ago.
I got a call from a guy that owns a feed store here in Hamilton about a place he had on the cowhouse creek that he's been seeing hogs in his wheat field about every evening.... So I just load up two cur dogs and this lil bulldog named daisy I got from a buddy. We hunted the whole place with nothing. Didn't see anything but rel old sign. I came to the conclusion that the hogs were just moving through there at night. I had a buddy with me that was down for a rodeo we had the next morning. He'd only been hunting with dogs one time and didnt catch anything. Dogs were tired and we were tired it was about 1:00 AM and he begged me to go try it one more time. The guy had told me about a little 200 acre place across the road from the one we were hunting that had numerous bull feeders the hogs were eating at and one stock tank. So we spotlight the feeders with nothing. Go to the tank and go look for some fresh sign of anything, wallows, rooting, tracks, anything. Nada. But he said turn them loose just to see wat happens. So I turn my yella dog and a pup out and in about 30 seconds they go out 500 yds and sound off. We get there, send my lil 45-50 lb bulldog, (keep in mind that my cur dogs won't put teeth on a hog at all and bay about 6-8 ft away) and my bulldog catches. Go in and see the hogs bk legs sticking out of a green briar thicket. I reach in and grabem. The hog spins, pulls me into the thicket, and hammered me twice, and breaks and runs. Bulldog still attached the whole time. He stops about 200yds away along a fence line and pins my bulldog and goes to town on her. My buddy for some reason had a lil .22 pistol and gave it to me I shoot about 10 times and hit him every time. My bulldog falls over and just lays there I thought I hit her.... The hog turns and runs me up an H-brace in the fence and my buddy up a tree. I shoot again and he turns and WALKS off. He had some dang good cutters but was prolly around 200+ lbs. But was blueish black in color and had a white patch on his chest. Ill never forget. I've hunted that place alot ever scence and never got on him. Havnt even got on another hog. My dogs are by bo means the best buf they will produce a hog if ones there. and the weird thing is nobodys seen hogs out there scence only on the ndighbor ranch. But the deer hunters say they hav him on trail cams about once a week then he's gone. And landowner said he seen him one time on the edge of the wheat field one time scence then.
Dog heals up fine and I was out of the hospital the next day but on day that sucker will be in the wrong place at the wrong time and end up on my wall.... I hope lol

I tell you what the baddest boar hog i have ever been on was the night of my birthday just a couple months go in November and Wyatt Walton aka WW-CC and my cousin KOcatchdogs can vouch for me this was one bad dude! We turned out not much going on get to the back of the place still not much going on getting ready to leave and Wyatts pepper dog goes to letting out a couple bawls and all the dogs join in about 350 yards out we get the cd's unloaded and head to em! We get with in about 90 yards wyatt looks at me and says you ready we reached down and un clipped the bulldogs he bucks which ever bull dog got there first he broke and ran and went 1.67 miles or something of that sort goes to the top of the moutain in some oak shinery the catchdogs went the whole way with em in some thick narley stuff we are headed up the hill i look at my cousin i said there is way to much barking going on for them catchdogs to be up there treed got in there and there was blood everywhere i mean everywhere he whooped every dog on that hill and took the life of wyatts really good catchdog brute got up there found brute walked a little further found my cd dog laying on her side not moving! then dolly one of my bay dogs comes to me with about a 12 cut on her back leg all in the muscle my cd was shredded she ended up making it out to live another day! But wyatts bulldog was not so lucky! That boar had put wyatt and my cousin up a tree wyatt go a shot off on him with a 9 mm in the back cause that was his only shot which did nothing but piss him off more finally got the dogs called off and went home! we were all pretty down in the dumps i felt terrible for wyatt i had just met him and we got on hands down the biggest and baddest SOB! i have caught a few big toothy toothy boars and this boar made em look like babies! my bulldogs vest look like edward scissor hands had got a hold of it ! I still to this day am not over it and wanna get that hog more then anything but ill only go back with the ole faithful 30-30 cause i dont wanna have to go through another whoppen like that again. RIP BRUTE

one of my hunting buddys had a huge corn feild behind his house along the river , the previous year he was rideing his atv around with some pups and met this bad boy by himself , it trashed his dogs and cut a tendon in the back leg of his linebred up and coming bmc , he took her to the vet and 1000 dollars later they fixed her the best they could ,the hog got away , craig said the hog more than likely had been caught before because he was a bad boy , well the next year craig calls and said that he had rode threw the corn feild and seen huge tracks , he was back and wanted to know if i was ready to catch this dog wrecker , I was really not ready for this because we all know what might happen and I knew what happened the year before, I had jorge who is hell on a big hog and gretchen a small bulldog but all heart , jorge had a brand new gaurdian kevlar and gretchen had a used gaurdian , we made a circle around the feild with nothing , craig had blowed his knee out at the time and was healing up and had no buisness being on a hunt yet but wanted revenge , there was a big irragation waterer that went around the feild on big tractor tires with a cage and a moter in the middle of the feild that this thing pivited on , craig climbed up on top of this big contraption and me and a friend headed towards the middle of the feild , the bay dogs busted off and bayed solid right in the middle of the feild, we cut the CDs loose and take off running in behind them , you couldnt see anything running threw the corn and in the middle it opened up , the hog was backed up to the cage in the middle and was working my dogs over , he slung them as high as the top of the cage several times , my buddy was backed up and spooked being a newbee , I kept trying to get a leg and the hog stayed backed up against the cage trashing the dogs , he worked three sides of the cage slinging my dogs off , jorge got a hold behind the front leg and gretchen had a ear at the time I ran back in , I knew they were hurt bad and I was in a panic , just as I went for him gretchen went back up to the moon again and the boar dragging jorge trying to get me , I ran backwards shooting the hog in the head , when he dropped i ran at him a gave him a couple of more just in case , the boar went 330 , trashed my brand new vest and still cost me over 500 at the vet , craig had the hog mounted and put in his office , we figured this hog between me and him cost us about 2000 bucks , wild boar replaced both vest free of charge , they were trashed but saved the dogs lifes craig and JR and me with the 330 lb dog wrecker

I've caught alot of rank bad boars through the years, but I'll never forget one that me and Trey Davis (weller44) caught one night in Roscoe tx. We were hunting a place that was 11,000 acres of rough wild country. Animals out there just don't see alot of humans, and I know for a fact there are lions out there too. Kicked dogs out from the old ranch house and we roaded the dogs aproximately 250 yards and they rolled out to 500 and were bayed solid on a fried up creek bed surrounded by briars. Drove around to them and got a bit closer. Me and trey cut cd's loose and ran right in behind him. I bet the cd's weren't caught for 8 seconds before we were on that old boar. He was down in a bad spot and he was slinging dogs and teeing off on them. He was spinning and hitting every dog that got close. Cd's were doing everything they could to hold into him. Trey somehow got a leg on him in a heroic attempt an tried to pull him out. He wasn't moving.... I grabbed treys knife out of his sheath and started sticking this sucker. Finally got him killed and I think the dogs were glad to see this one gone. We looked around and things didn't look so good for the dogs. Treys cd was split from between her eyes all the way to the back of her skull and had some other cuts. And his new dog Ice didn't make it through the fight. The other cd was cut in the mouth and throat and had to be taken to the vet. My dog rebel had about a 9" cut from the bend of his front leg all the way up to his chest. Needless to say we got out of there quick and got dogs to the vet. The boar didn't have but 2" teeth, but he knew how to use them. Meanest baddest boar I have ever caught. Glad we got him killed the first time we ever got on him

Yeah he didn't have a lot of hair and looked to be really old. When I caught him with dogs he didn't look like that. He had some really good teeth also I just wish I would have killed him on the spot instead of trying to bring him out alive

Was out last one night made a dirt road pass on a place earlier that night and was on the way home and decided why not it was on the way so we went back down. Only had one catch dog that night and took out two of my youth. Well the dogs threw there noses up and bailed so i parked the truck. I got out the catch dog. Didnt take but 2 or 3 min and the two bay dogs had this thing stopped in its tracks. I like to get within 100 yards before i let the catch go. We did and then took off after it. When i ran around the corner i saw this beast tossing my catch dog like he was nothing. I tried and tried to grab a leg but every time i got close he spun right at me. Big dude. finally the ear tore and the catch dog was thrown off. When he went to grap he got gutted way back under the vest. Bum luck. as he was running in he got caught on a tree and it twisted him around. Thats why the hog hit him there. I had to shoot him that night. My two dogs didnt let him get but 20 feet away and bay him up again. So i grabbed my kimber 45 and put one right in his head and he dropped. Came out at 398 on the scales the next morning. I loved catching him but would rather not and kept my catch dog. He was a great dog.

Well the meanest I've been on was 250lb boat. There was three of us. We were roading the dogs one night and I was letting my little 10month old(name was Ace) cat run with them. Dogs went in on the left side and was making some rounds when we heard barking coming out then right in the middle of the road ahead of us. It was Ace and honestly we all thought he was trashing on something. We shined a light up ahead and there he was baying his tail off on this big sucker. The other dogs bust out of woods the hog breaks and takes into the right side. He maybe went 50 yards in and bayed up against several blew down logs. Ace was kinda suicidal he was very rough and never had a chance to learn. Instead of baying he tried to catch and bam instantly he was cut down. We turned the CD loose and was right behind him. It only took us about 2 minutes to get to the bay. When we got there it was crazy. My dogs dead CD is cut to ribbons. Me and my buddy legged him and finally got him flipped. My legs got pinned under the log with the hog against me and I couldn't move. It took everything we had to hold him. (We had forgot to bring a knife or gun Lol ) it was just chaotic till the end trying to get him tied and keep him down. The CD country saved us all he hung on till his last breath. He killed both dogs and we barely had him tied. We called some friends to bring dogs just in case he got back up. Ended up hauling him and and he stroked out later in the pen. Ace struck his first and last hog. That's one hunt I'll never forget. Ace
