Sorry about your dog but I do not think the law is going to see you as the victim here. Your dogs went on someone's property and killed there livestock I would try to pay for there hogs and and hope they didn't press charges on me.

Yes josh should pay for the animals his dogs killed and mamed, And Maybe so on not lookn at him as the victim, but as far as beating dog to death with anything, that shows unmalice forethought. I can understand using what ever means nessecary to remove the threat, but it takes a lot of efforts to beat something to death with a bat. Once the threat from the dogs was established, it shouldnt have taken a deadly beating of 1 and near deadly beating of another to remove the threat. Hopefully animal crualty charges will be filled on the woman and she is found guilty. Josh as quoted, if i was u, i would be finding out how much the hogs are gonna cost you and go ahead and pay for them AND GET A RECEIPT or bill of sales for the damaged and dead hogs and restitution for a couple future litters. Once u hav made good on damages and show proof of payments to the court if the issue every arrises. Good luck to ya and u get some kind of compensation for ur dogs

well this is a shame but , your dogs are at fault and you are liable for damages . as for the dog you might as well get rid of it when it recovers . sad but that would be best for you because it being a bulldog they are going to label it as dangerous and all sorts of rules regulations and money is involved in keeping one . and I don't know about yours but I know my white gyp you would have to beat to death before she will let go on her own and most catch dogs are this way . like I said this is a shame and knock on wood I don't ever have it happen . but get ready,  because I doubt this will be swept under the rug or go away quietly .

I paid the man already and he was very understanding and actually apologized to me several times about the whole thing.  We shook hands, talked work and hunting, drank a beer and cooled off at the same time yesterday.  Its the way the woman was and how she did it.  Im not trying to look like a victim, I know what they did was their/my fault.  Ruger has never gotten out of his pen in the almost three years Ive owned him and Roam (the one killed) was our house/yard dog.  My kids' dog..... He hasnt ever even been hunting with me.  Never planned on it either.  Ruger comes through, he will be well taken care of and back to hunting if he has a complete recovery.  if he comes around and cant hunt, then he will be a fat house dog!

Hate to say it and that's one cold b**** to be able to do it but your dogs were harming their livestock even though it was by no fault of your own I don't see her liable here.

yes I understand all that josh but now the law or state is involved and all i'm saying is this won't most likely go away from their standpoint . just be prepared for it  .  I.E.  kinda like slapping somebody and then apologizing . if the police made a report the state will pick up the assault charges even if the man you slapped drops the charge . they may require you to have a special kennel restriction and the purchase  of liability insurance on the dog  .

I'm with ya Josh.  It's the who and why of it that offends me.  What's the cleaning lady doing defending the pigs?  Is that in her job description?  And who in their right mind goes after two dogs with a bat, unless they have to?  Karma is a BEACH!  You get what you give I believe.  And she's written a big old cosmic check that'll be cashed one day.

Yeah you would at least think she would yank on the dogs cods, blow in the dogs ear, or know how to use a break stick properly....while the dogs are mauling Babe and Arnold Ziffel

No but you might think she would shoot them or just knock them off until they stopped.  I know with the way she talked about it she kept going after the fact.

Well hate to hear about your dog. I pulled in one time and two dogs were killing my kids show goats. I realized when I drawed down on them they were cur dogs. I went and caught the dogs. They had collars with nameplates I was a bit upset at first but after a minute I ask the hog hunters to pay for the goats. Both boys paid me for what I had paid for the goats and I could respect them for that  My kids show and work hard and love there animals if someone's dog is killing
My animals I will do any means necessary to kill that dog. I hate your dogs got killed but they were doing something they were not supposed to be. I know it was not on porpoise but it happened

Update on Ruger, he has been eating and drinking good today. Sarah, my gf has been here for him while I have been working and said she took him outside and he was happy to be out of the house, and VERY excited when she took him down to the pen to see his buddy Achilles, my strike dog. Thanks for thoughts and prayers, but keep em coming! He still needs them.

I would not be surprised if the county makes u put the dog down. I would not raise a big stink over it if you want to keep the dog.... Sure the lady may have gone overboard but if all i had was a baseball bat and two dogs were attacking my livestock......... A base ball bat would do just fine by me. My daughter showed hogs and i had a ton of money tied up in them, you should feel lucky charges have not been filed on you. Good luck and sorry about your dogs
