Made a hunt with Stokely out in Navarro county today. Josh brought his CD and Xena gyp...shes fresh off pups and it was more to stretch her legs than anything. I brought my CD and Jasper.

Jasper has been doing real well lately....at only 14 months he's been hunting hard...and finding pigs. Up until today anyway. He did bump 4 deer though..and 1 was real nice..so...thats something I guess  Undecided

As the hunt went on and the deer were ran...lol....i felt worse and worse. But....after we made our turn and started back towards the trucks....i started noticing a few things....or the lack there of. There was zero hog sign in the area...or the sign that WAS there was weeks or even months old. Now...this place is big...and there is no doubt in my mind there are pigs there...lots of them...they were just not in the area we hunted.

When a pup/dog has been doing real well for you...you might start to take things for granted....it's easy to overlook things. Things like age and experience....or the fact that your trying to pull pigs out of thin air with a pup....lol.

As happy as I have been with Jasper...and as frustrated as I almost got......I just needed to remind myself he's a pup.

Pancho...voodoo has to get a little better on a lead before I decide to go walk 5 miles in the woods with her...thanks for the call Kevin.  Dry run or not its always nice to hit the woods.

Hey, good hunt anyways guys. I'd rather see a pup get bored and bump deer than one get bored and hang out with me.
