my old gyp is deaf and has been a dang good companion to me for going on 12 years . we made plenty of trips to the woods just me and her . she would not let me get out of her sight and would track old hog trails to where they were bedded down . when she would find them she would just sit down and cock her head and watch them lol . then I would go back home and get the other dogs and go straight to the bed and hammer the hogs . put the dog to work doing something she would make an excellent blood trailer for deer or something . good luck with her and like I said before they pick up hand signals very well .

She's as deaf as they come....
I sold a pup to a guy 2 years ago. It turns out the pup was deaf. I offered to take it back but he was already attached to the pup and was determined to make a go of it. He originally wanted the pup for blood trailing deer and he started training her for that right away. She turned into a hell of a blood trail dog. He said at times it was frustrating but he is very happy with her. She has found many deer for their hunting club. I was told that the book shown below is very informative.

I got a Deaf cat pup, supposably came from some mountain stock out of carolinas. I love the build of this dog, everything about him natural bobtail, colored black an tan.
He's watchin hand signals now, always stays close and watches me. Somewhat frustrating at times but hes got a home here. sure do catch myself talking to him at times knowing godd an well he cant hear lol
