I had a buddy buy a dog for 1000$ before he got her she was the guys best strike dog only sold her because of how rough she is and shed always get cut . Well after my buddy buys the dog he comes too not like her bcuz she's dominant over a pig and got into a minor fight with his "baby" ( fav. Dog ) since then she's sat on the chain . He hunted her once has not struck and didn't go anywhere . Well I knew dog before he got her . She was working real well . And she's a cur so I hear there timid at first so it'll take a bit for them to get used too you as it does for any dog . My question is since she has done nothing for my buddy granted he's only hunted her that 1time . She did goto the bay and was caught , but should I pay the 1000 he did or less since she's not proven anything since he's had her ? Advice anyone

U pay what u feel she is worth. If u think 1k then pay it. If its 750 or whatever offer it. He is the only one that knows what he will take. If u knew the dog before he got it u know what it can do. A possessive dog on a pig is not a problem if u know in advance. My Kane dog is like this. Once the pig is dead or where he isn't attached u tie him by himself till either the pig is gone or u get away from it. U can't even haul ur catch around with my dog cause he will come back every few minutes to make sure its in wheeler. When it comes to the value of any dog that decission lies in the eyes of the man giving and getting green backs. But don't hold that one hunt against the dog.

You couldn't give me a dog that had any slight bit of aggression for free. I don't care wat the reason is or how good the dog is.

I wouldn't pay a thousand for a dog that's still standing by a pig after it's caught or killed. If I paid that much she better be gone looking for another pig after the pig was down.

If you know the dog and the dog finds hogs and does good and is trash broke and hunts well  and you have seen this then the dog is worth a 1000 bucks.  Now if the dog didnt find hogs on her own no she is not worth that much.   That being dominate can be knocked out of her if you know what you are doing and put foot to ass .  There is way to many dogs being sold said to be strike dogs and can find their on hogs that are noting more than trash people are trying to sell.  I get phone calls every day on how this guy are  that guy bought a dog that was suppose to be able to find hogs and will not leave their feet,  they screwed them on selfs really by not knowing the dog are hunting with it are knowing the guy they got it from.  So if this dog finds hogs on  her own and you know this and she was his best strike dog and you seen her in action and the only reason he dont like her is because she is to ruff are dominate over a hog and you can live with the ruff  ,  Yeah I would imagine the dog is worth the grand any dog that will find a hog consistent on their own is worth a grand because it is just to much BS being sold out there and a good one to  hard to find  to not be worth a grand and you know this dog and what she has done .  Its a hard thing to find a good dog that will find a hog on its own consistent Ive just heard to many horror storys ,  so I would say if she can do that and you know her she is worth it .

This gyp hands down get the job done before he had her , and with the dominance . If you walk her away and tell her too get ahead she's gone . She will find pigs had found pigs , that's how she was getting Hurt before she found rank pigs tried too catch by herself and would get whooped because all of the other dogs he owned were loose . My only concern is does she still have the confidence too do so . That's the risk in my opinion ?

If he's a buddy take her hunting before you buy or offer money on her if he is not interested in her anymore. Just make sure you take care of her if she gets injured or something wouldn't be a bad idea to vest her if shes that rough.

I bet after some time with her she will be fine she just dont know who to trust anymore.   Sometimes this might take a long while other times not so long but if she is a good dog she is worth the wait.  Also if you gonna get her make sure you have some dogs that will help her not stand back and bay she needs help with more dogs like her if not she wont be worth your trouble will get killed are hurt bad in a hurry with no help.

Oh yeah that's no problem all I have is rough dogs, that's why I want her because I think I can get the best out of her , but I'm fine where I stand now with dogs so I'd be in no rush and she probably only needs some TLC. I have a yella gyp that it took a couple months but after I brought her in the house a couple times and let her off the chain when not hunting she learned too trust me and since then she's been turning on real nice but thanks for the help .

As far as value, thats up to you, what  you are willing to.give for her.  If this dog can get it done and you know her quirks and are willing and capable of dealing with them, she will step out for you....just by the way you decribed the situation between her and your buddy, she'll probably really never step out for him.   What is a dog worth that you don't like and wont hunt for you?? Probably more to you then him. lol

If you do get her, try socializing her with your pack before hunting her. Correct her errors in and out of the woods and hopefully she won't be as bad. If she keeps it up I wouldn't have her. She might ruin the other dogs hunting ability with her over dominance.

Put her on a pig with a dog that's a Lil more dominate and look the other way. Sometimes the best  way to learn is the hard way.

I agree with demondoggers. Sometimes the best way is to let  her ass kicked a time or two when she wants to be possessive of her catch. In the other hand if she can go yonder, find hogs, stay bayed, catch when the bulldog gets there.....she is worth a grand all day long. I would pay the man.

Yeah thats using your noodle.....how then you gonna break the lil more dominate dog....isn't the objective to overcome the possessive behavior.......not condone it.

It would be far better for you and your dogs if you became a leader and took possession of a caught hog.

BOOT TO ASS !  IF SHE KNOWS WHO THE BOSS REALLY IS SHE WILL QUIT THAT CRAP.  NOW I DONT MEAN HALF MALL THE DOG BUT A GOOD ASS KICKIN A TIME ARE TWO AND SHE WILL START TO GET THE MESSAGE !

SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD .

IF THAT DONT WORK NOTING WILL AINT NO SWEET TALK IN THE WOODS WHEN SHE IS DOING IT GONNA FIX IT.  NOW CORRECTING HER AT HOME IN THE KENNEL AROUND THE HOUSE IN THE TRAILER CAN HELP YOU IN THE WOODS .  A LOT OF TIMES THEY WILL QUIT THAT STUFF ONCE THEY GET TO KNOW ALL THE DOGS WELL .  JUST ME .
