Made a hunt yesterday and my male dog got on a hog and ran him for about 2 miles. Finally got him back about 1 1/2 hours later. Seemed fine. Then I noticed he was bleeding from his butt and kept trying to take a crap. And vomited a couple of times.  Didn't let him run anymore on hunt. Got him home and seemed fine. Got him out of his kennel today and he took off running around the yard like nothing was wrong. Went to feed him and he didn't eat much and acts like he is hurting now. Any ideas? I'm concerned.

Heat stroke CAN cause rectal bleeding sometimes. You said he vomited too? Did he appear to be in heat distress? That's a possibility. I'd be sure you don't see that again and if you do I'd run him by the vet to make sure he doesn't have any internal trauma you're unaware of.

I had my main strike dog that had a ruptures anal gland and he bled like a stuck hog. I thought he was going to die so I took him to the vet and thrashes is what it was. 100 dollars and 2 weeks later he was fine
