x2  Leave the pistol cause you'll be tempted if you take it...  That's why i don't carry anything but ties...  Good luck!!

I can't imagine going after a hog like this without a firearm of some sort. Defies logic to me. Good luck, hope you get on him.

I'm lucky to have tie rope when I go to the woods, definitely not a gun or a sticking knife, and I always seem to forget a headlight.  The only thing I pack religiously is a Case XX to mark and Barr em with.  99% of mine is turned back loose on the spot anyways.

I agree.........at one point I was in the  "what do I need a gun for?" group...........Well it took a long time but we found out one night in nome Texas years back and lost a couple dang good dogs and I about got my arse handed to me as well........could have all been avoided if someone had a gun..........I always carry now.......to each his own.

Yeah we had this happen and had nothing, that's why I make sure and have a knife. If the hog is caught we are gonna leg it then could stick it if we were in a bind

LOL, no offense meant at all BUT I have never been in a bind once the hog is caught, wait til that day comes when he wrecks everything.......I hope it never does for ya'll or anyone else for that matter but it did for us once and thats all it took, people can talk all  they want but this dude ain't above shooting a hog lol....its gonna get real western real quick with nothing but a knife and a PO'd hog in a tight spot!

Ive been there a couple of times myself , but thank god I had my pistol , Ive killed 500 plus hogs and have shot two , both bad boys and both cost me alot in vet bills before it was over , Ill leave the knife at home before I leave my pistol , its dead weight most of the time but when you need it , its there , I know what the end story would have been with out it in my case , JMO    good luck on the hunt , Ive been told that high fence hogs know there trapped and tend to be more aggressive in this enviroment , is there any truth to that statement ?

I've only used my pistol one time I was by myself with one bay dog one cd I get there cd is tore up barley hanging on and I was tangled up in a brier wall but could see em shot the hog and my cd was able to get patched up and is still catching today after that day I wouldn't leave without it even though its only been used once u just never know. Up here if word got out I caught a hog and turned it loose I might as well sell my dogs cause u wouldn't ever find another hunting spot. And for the high fence I personally don't know I've never hunted one. Yea that hog was bigger and probably badder lol but we couldn't see what we was running into that night.
