I had a Rat Terrier gyp wander up to the house a while ago I wasn’t to pleased at first but the kids wanted to keep her she has turned out to be a hog nut. I first noticed when I put a hog I caught in my bay pen she squeezed through the fence and nailed it and then proceeded to bay the hair off it I was surprised but didn’t think about hunting her. A few weeks ago I took her and a pup to a new place I just got and she was running ahead of the wheeler and struck off the trail so I stopped to see what she was so interested in an a few minutes later she was raising hell , I thought she must be after a rabbit or something then the pup fired up and I saw a pig cross the trail ahead of me they were in hot pursuit they caught it about 200 yards away in a brush top now I’m getting interested. Two days later I ran her with my grown dogs and they caught 4 more hogs she was right there on all of them doing her part its a funny site she weighs about 20 pounds and can run all day. She just had pups off my catch dog pit cat mix so they are ( pit, cat, rats ) Not what I would typically think of running but the daddy will hunt like a cur med to long but is all catch the little rat terrier she is rough but really just grab and let go im thinking of keeping the whole litter to try out anyone here ever had such a dog? If they turn out semi rough med range and around 35 lbs. they should be perfect for the thickets I hunt.
