Ok i had a pup that was poopin real good kick down the drain turds for the first three months of her life. She all the sudden went to watery poop that had a tinge of red that was always separately running out of the mess. I cleaned the kennel nightly and wormed her with valbazen, wormed with safe gaurd, wormed with strongid, corid for coxcidia , tape wormed her just in case, gave her amoxicilian just to see if it would help and lastly i gave her probius. I treated her for about a month myself and finally took her to the vet. The vet checked and low and behold no worms Smiley the only thing they could find wrong was a build up of bad bacteria. They gave me a small tube of probius and charged me 90 bucks. Needless to say the pup didnt get any better. She was eating and drinking good and acted like she felt good. Anyhow about a month ago i got a new pup and threw her in the puppy pen because it was just bad bacteria with the other pup according to the vet. The new pup was pooping good up until two days ago and now guess what...... I removed the first pup from the situation to concentrate my efforts on the new pup. So any ideas on something the vet or i may have missed?

Both pups were given their shots on time so it shouldnt be parvo or anythang. I have been dealing with this for months and i am sick of it. Hopefully i will get rained out in the morning and be able to take the new pup to the vet...

Ideas?

Do the pups have access to any standing/stale water?

dang the bad luck peach  ..  there are several different strains of cocci  .  the corded works on most .  I all ways put my pups on  sulmet  a cocci preventive and haven't had issues with it since starting to do it . I raise chickens and cocci is all ways prevelant on my yard .   sulmet and probiotics is a routine around here .  after worming and treating dogs with anything I will give them a dose of probiotics to fill them back up with good bacteria .  all ways something ain't it    when I was a young man we never wormed , gave shots or nothing to the hounds and never had any major issue tain't that way no more  .  good luck and hope you figure it out  .

Sulmet? Guess i need to get some and try that. I have tried everything else. The only thing that really puzzles me is the vet said everything tested good... Hopefully i will get her to the vet tomorrow if it rains

Something I heard... I dont have any personal experience, just a "rumor" I was told. Heard some doggers down in south Tx had some high dollar pups get E Coli from a bad batch of Victor dog food. I dont know the specifics on it, it was just told to me.... Maybe it is the food.

Sounds like enterobacter, which is a gut bacteria, had pups do identical thing. Revivalanimalhealth.com has a good write up about it. I used cephalaxin and it cleared up. Eat and drink like they are fine, but loose, blood tinged stool and start looking wormy.

I got some doxy, a bunch of it. I got like 5 or six bottles when I went to Afghanistan, it made me sick, so I took a chance on malaria instead of being sick everyday from the meds. I think I got a couple 60 or 90 capsule bottles left. if u'll pay for shipping, its urs. the vet gave me same thing for my dog that broke his leg and said I could use mine or his script, so I got a good supply. doxy is a real broad n potent anti-biotic. u mite even try enducing plain yogart that has natural and good enzymes n bacteria in it. I saved 2 pups with parvo by using yogrt, sardines and eggs.

Peach...when you find out make sure and update us on it...

Halfbreed might be right...Probiotics might be what the pup needs to fix/balance the good stomach bacteria...I just saw an add the other day about special proboitics for dogs that can be purchased from the veternarian...

I do know that with humans...when they take too much antibiotics that the bacteria in the gi tract goes out of whack and probiotics is about the only way to fix the runny stools...don't know if it happens the same with dogs...

Well this certainly sounded like the closest thing yet. I took this info and the info the vet told me on the first pup and went to tractor supply. Lol i went looking to see if they had any other antibiotics... The first thing i found there was tylan. I googled it on my iphone and the second result was an article about tylan cureing diarrhea that is caused by bad bacteria overgrowth. I thought what the heck i have been throwing everything at her already. Anyhow last night i gave her 3cc under the skin. And tonight there was a semi hard pile.. Whoohoo i gave her 2 cc tonight. This is the best poop she has had in weeks. I am excited to see her poop tomorrow. Is that weird? Lol
