I'm just interested to see who believes has the "best" line of dogs and produces the "best" dogs. However in the end it doesn't matter where a dog comes from. A good dog is just that... A good dog. BMC: I personally believe Ben Jordan or one of the original cattle lines. Yes I know few dogs have come off of his yard but the few that are lucky enough to own one knows exactly what I'm talking about. These dogs are the living descendants of what real dogs are made of. Not putting down anyone that has good dogs but I am upholding those that are in my mind the best all around dogs. Now for terriers: (jagd) I'm just gonna say breed wise the jagd wins my vote. No matter what, they are to me, the dogs with the most bottom. Besides pete the old coon hound haha. But let's not argue about that. Who has the "best" line. I don't know since there arnt many known local breeders i know of. Probably some foreign Serbian import. Like the mother to mine. But I would love to here of some good lines yall've dealt with. Hounds: I'm clueless? I only have crosses now so I have no opinion. *Please POST pictures, info, opinions, etc. and lets keep this a friendly debate.

Man I really dont believe this is a fair question to ask. Two reasons:
1st: Nobody out there has hunted with everybody else so to comment is only making a statement about the best "line" you have hunted with. I've been hog hunting for 10 years and can only comment on a few "lines". If a guy had dogs years ago and he still has dogs but they are not "line" bred, than it is not a line. In addition, you should have hunted with someone many times to judge thier dogs, not just a couple hunts.
2nd: Different types of dogs work better in different environments. Joe Blow may have the best dogs that south texas, but that dont mean that line of dogs will work at all in the north Georgia hills of the FL Okochobee swamp. Some guys on here are lucky to have spots where the hogs are plentiful. Id like to see one of those guys bring his dogs here and we can ride for hhours and not find a track. They had better have dogs that can be turned out and stay out for hours looking for hogs.

I understand ^^^ however I'm just curious about your opinion. I understand not everyone has seen lots of line neither have I. I'm just saying the few I have seen that I'm impressed with.

If you're looking for a dog or pup, just watch the dog trade. Cuz, whatever lines that get mentioned in this thread, there will be plenty of them for sale with in a day or two:D

I'll start by saying that I don't know if he's the best but he is by far the favorite dog I have ever owned. I have a ybmc. The mom was weatherford Ben and all the information I've gotten on his daddy he is a Tx yellow cur. He's a solid yellow dog 60-65lbs very rough. He has white tips on his feet and a white chest. I've been hog hunting 10 years and he is by far the best dog I have ever hunted behind. Medium to long range depending on the dog he is hunting with I never hunt more than one dog with him. I've bred him to 3 different females a catahoula, a redbone pit cross, and a ybmc all pups were finding their on pigs by 8 months the pups out of the ybmc female are 3 months and they are baying and catching a 75lbs pig. He will find hogs in the mountains of Arkansas of swamps of Mississippi. He will wind out of a boat or the back of a wheeler, road hunting in front of the rig, hunt in front of horse. His only flaw is he likes to catch skunks at night lol. He like ole yeller there will never be another like him

More than likely the best line of dogs, be it curs, hounds, terriers, labradoodles, or x's of all of the above, probably are tied up behind somebody's barn and a very select group of individuals know about them and an even more select group is fortunate enough to hunt with them. Just seems like the better the line the less people who know about it. I know if I were ever lucky enough to have whats considered an elite pack of dogs I'ld try to keep it as quiet as possible. Especially these days.

This is a good one , I've done research on Both sides of the pack , the bulldog side , I've got a good idea but on the bmc side I really have no clue , there not reg . , so there's not any paper trail , just names written of dogs and story's , all I know is a friend of mine bought a dog off a man in commanche ok. Lets say 15 yrs ago , his name was earl , it was said this dog was the best he ever seen or owned , the man he bought the dog from had been linebreeding for yrs , the dog is on the front of the march 2004 bayed solid magazine with craig , it's a nice looking male , anyway Craig has linebred dogs himself from this males blood and a few female bmc , all mine are from this line or lines. Ones red and Ones yellow slick coat and med higth and one has a fat tail , a little bushy and longer hair , long legged dog , all three are 11 yrs. 8 yrs and 4 yrs , there spaced out alittle but linebred and all look different , they'll hunt here but never had the chance to hunt anywhere but okla , Craig has taken a couple to Texas with people from this site before I owned but me just here , he says in Texas these dogs would be the bomb because here they have to hunt miles to find a hog and there there's more hogs ,I'd sure like to know more than I do about them , I'm breeding a female back to Craig's male for one more generation , as for the best I don't think so , one day there super the next one were eaten skunks , bumping deer , ect. And like said one mans trash is another mans treasure

Bob I'm curious about the bulldogs. I personally have just picked a pit/bulldog out of the shelter and went from there. I've never bought line bred bulldogs or any known lines. What's out there that you think are the best? I'd like to know more.

Nice topic, I own two Ben Jordan dogs/pups and didn't know at the time what I had. I'm from Pleasanton, tx, South of San Antonio, Tx, and the black mouth is all we used working cattle growing up. Hogs started eating up peanut fields back in the early 70's, damn I'm old, and back then working cattle the dogs would round off and start running hogs at a young age I fell into hog hunting and got lots of dogs cut up dam my dad was mad at me for ever it seemed. Old guys ramble on some times to make a longer story shorter. I got two awesome Ben Jordan dogs and just brings back the old school true working black mouths that aren't seen much anymore. I live in Midlothian, tx know and run hogs as much as I can but don't know people like I do back home so I don't get a chance to run these dogs and make them what they could be. I do like to see everyone on here having great times the way I used too...

My outlook is there is basiacly no such thing as the best. To me you need to look at consistanticy and pick acording to what you like be it catch bay bottom etc.

Any of y'all hunt with terriers? I think there's more to be said about them and credit to give. I love my curs but for now on I don't leave with out at least one terrier in the box. Right now my main terrier is a patterdale out of south Texas I don't know the mans name but i do know he has some half way decent dogs. I know my jag pup 6 months will soon pass her up but until then she's still my go to girl. She doesn't hunt really hard but she is there every step of the way with my strike dog. Ranging by herself up to 200 and with my main strike gyp around 200-600 depending on how far my main strike is. Would love to here about the pint size warriors.
