Well.... I got my boy a vest and a cut collar to match it. He took a few hits last weekend and he needs to be geared up.  He sure does "look" ready....but I must say--he's been wearin it for about 7 days now and is no way "actin" ready. Lol, he's walkin around like a robot or a toy that ya gotta keep windin up to make it work! I'm keepin it on him until its broke in and he's actin himself. He's lookin at me like he's being punished.

Any advice/input/past experiences/etc would be very appreciated....

Have you showed him a hog while hes wearing it yet? If not show him one that will hit him pretty good while its on and he will understand pretty quick

It's funny haw they take differently to the vest.  My buddy said his dog just stood there for hours and refused to move.  And then when he'd move it was like frankenstein.  His dog is my dog's dad.  But my dog didn't sweat the vest hardly at all.  He kinda walked slow in it at first, but within 15 mins he never again acted like it was on him.

Nope, he hasnt had any action while wearin it. That makes good sense tho.

I took him huntin in it a few times, and he aint gettin out like he usually does. Hopefully in 2 weeks and a caught hog, he will kick in his drive and get back to himself.

He won't pay it any attention when he sees a hog. If I only put it on him when u hunt and only hunt him in a vest it won't take long till the vest equals hunting.

Check his front shoulders close to where the first red/orange strap on the vest is in the picture, I had a dog that was built ALOT like him and bought him a vest for the same reasons........the vest rubbed him and creating fever blister like puss pockets on both of his front shoulders the size of tennis balls..............I'm not saying that this is the case but you may want to check it, if it isn't fitting him just right it could make him REAL uncomfortable.

It's fittin real good, I think it's a perfect fit.

the cut collar is what might be makin him not put his nose down and roll. It's lookin like he's windin the whole time he's wearin it. I think he's gonna get used to it sooner than I'm thinking, I came home and he's jumpin up 6' as usual-tail waggin!!
Trax collar?

I think he means tracking collar put it between the 2 straps of the cut collar it will let the dog fell like he has less around his neck

To me it looks like u have the vest cinched up way to tight on him. I like my vest to hang down off the dogs belly an inch or two to let them breath and move around easier

Naw, it's snug-I can make a lil wiggle room I think,, track collar over the cut collar,, definitely will do.

Try loosing it up then slowly tighten the straps.  I put the vest on my dogs  and turn them loose in the yard and let them play then I slowly thighten the straps.  Works everytime..

My big male catahoula is my main dog now and he was alittle crazy for awhile gathering up alot of cuts in a short time. I bought him a viper vest put it on him for about 2 months he never got cut but wouldnt hunt out but 100 yds or so. Took it back off and he went back to hunting out 4-600 so some never adjust to the vest
