Can yall tell me the symptoms of this? I just had a bull dog that I thought was pregnant, all of a sudden she got real poor lookin, dehydraited had some nasty smelly goo coming out of her lady part. Stayed poor for about two weeks, looks good now though and she looks to be developing milk. Any thoughts?

I'm dealing with that right now. I'm going to the vet as we speak to find out. She has done this before.

I've got a BMC gyp that used to have them. I ended up getting her spayed to stop them. It was pretty odd she would milk up and everything.

It was crazy. She swelled up just like she was pregnant, bagged up with milk and all. But then the swelling in her abdomen gradually receeded, and she went to lookin back to normal. Only happened that one time.

I've seen it twice in a gyp I own. The false pregnancy only takes a few days and she's bagged up with milk. She swells up and a few weeks later back to normal. The gyp prolapses every heat as well.

Robert...not yet...bout Tuesday I'm thinkin...unless we get a thunder/lightening storm tonite....I've had that start labor before.

I THINK she may have been false last time...she swelled just a little...bagged up a little but nothing ever came of it. Either that or she had just a couple and ate them. That was when my father was on his death bed and I was out of town. Never got her separated from other dogs. Stayed in her kennel....might have been to much stress.

Anyway...she's a lot bigger this time. Very aggressive towards other dogs...but...from what I understand...false/pseudo pregnancy is exactly the same as regular pregnancy as far as how the gyp acts. Nesting, being protective...etc.

I've never had it happen before...so...just doin a little studying on it.

We had a basset hound that had a false pregnancy every time she had a heat cycle for most of her life. She never had one litter of puppies but she made so many milk bags in her life time that she looked like she had raised several litters.

YBMC gyp went thru her fist cycle at 9 mths, she was bagged up lookin real ready, not to big in the stomach area tho, just bagged up and producing milk. I counted the days, she came in heat Dec 22, 2012, then  after 70 days (give or take a few) she was lookin preg. I got worried something got to her but she was in kennel 99% of the time during the "ready to take" process.  Vet said if she don't dry up in 2 weeks she could get on something  for hormones.

I have bred my female cd 3 times since I have owned her. the 1st to my best ybmc. the second to Mr. and Mrs. Psenciks cd "bullet" and then again to the same ybmc as the first time...........She has yet to ever drop a puppy. When I bred her to the Psenciks CD she got so big that I brought her inside thinking that they would be here within a day or 2 if not hours (I document when I breed initially so that I know when to expect the pups)........she has never had a single puppy that I am aware of........it sucks because she is a great dog, when I let her run she will hunt out past 900yds by herself pretty regular, I just hate taking a chance in loosing her over something like that, she is my old lady's favorite

keep her away from other dogs...if she feels threatened by being to close to other dogs she might swallow all her pups...

there are times when a bitch really gets pregnant but she aborts because of Brucellosis infection...
