Just wondering if anyone has ever succesfully line bred 2 different breeds 2 achieve the kinda dogs you want. Im in the process of trying this and just wanted to hear from some of yall that may have more experience than me. My plan is to introduce a extremely hard hunting, get gone walker hound into my catahoulas. Im looking 2 get down to about 1/4 hound and 3/4 cur. Ive heard of and hunted behind sum extremely nice cur hound crosses but have yet to run across someone that line bred like this for years. The catahoulas im running have been line bred for about 20yrs. I guess u could say im bringing in this walker as an outcross.lol Any of yall have a line like this? Im talkin about dogs that are mostly cur with a touch of hound that you have been raising for 10+ years?

I know what you mean I got a Walker/Parker and an English/Catahoula both are young dog and they will travel when I get them on hogs they are hog dogs but they still bump deer bad I think if I had a little more cur in them they would better suit me but man they got alot of hunt and can go all day I did this because not many hogs in my area and they travel around alot just bought a shock collar for both and about to try to line them out. I think if I ever get them broke off deer they will be some good dogs. I am still kind of new to the long range dog thing and am still learning.

that's what I've been doing the last 12 years , no complaints so far they vary from 50/50 to down around an 1/8 th hound blood on my yard .  several generations . but this last litter is 3/4 hound and 1/4 Catahoula and i'm really liking their looks and actions . but I was looking for more tree power out of this last breeding so I can hunt possums as well as hogs  lol .

don't bother with those trashy a$$ pups...I will cull them for you...  Smiley

buy you some deer scent and break them in your back yard with a little shock therapy...

Yeah im gonna hang on to them haha they are some hard hunting dogs one thing about them you better have a tracking collar I got these dogs from freinds they are from hog dogs and they will eventually get lined out and when they do I think they are gonna be great they got no quit in them I took a $1700 catahoula dog on trial while I was home they made a fool out of him they did run a deer but they also bayed 2 hogs that $1700 dog didnt run the deer but did eventually get to bay the hog they found after he could hear them they were 1/2 mile away if you just cast them you never know what you gonna get but if you gonna get if I put them in fresh sign they get hogs. My uncle said put a goat in the pen with them I may try it lol when I get home im gonna put the shock collars on them and ride till I see deer and do the deed on them. But no doubt hound cur mix is good if you make the cross with good dogs when I lived in Louisiana we had more hogs where I hunted and a short range cur was doing the trick but when I moved to South Ar they just couldnt produce the hogs. These crosses are little more vocal but I can put up with it and they seem to have alot more nose on them and alot more range at just a year old they consistantly hunt out 600-800 yards and alot futher some times I have had them over a mile if they get on a hog they will see it through I hope to breed my parker cross back to a freinds good Cat male which is the sire to my other pup I think that will be perfect 3/4 cur 1/4 hound hope to tone down the trash running retain some nose and range. But i got to get them finished first.
