Im getting a BloodhoundxCat male, he's 1.5 year old and been in a bay pen a couple times and only been hunted a handfull of times but only broke just over 200 yards.  Should i do mock hunts with him to improve his range and confidence or just run him with my dogs? Are there any tips on getting a dog this age goin? Thanks.

Throw him on the ground and let him kick rocks with the other dogs. That's the perfect age to start one. Most of the puppy BS is out of them.

Hunt him with he others. I got one that i started at 2 and he does real good. I just put him in the woods. Probably wouldn't hurt to throw him in the pen a few times to let him bay and turn on
