Obama stumbled up to a guys house in New Waverly in 2007. Not really sure what he was with a little brown, some white and alot of black; Erik named him Obama.

He was a great catchdog, it's hard to even put a number on the amount of hogs he's caught since he's been with us. He was frustrating at times, barked alot in the buggy,  and was hard to catch after he got let go.. But man he sure got the job done.

He easily has caught 25+ hogs over 300#'s and 2 over 400#. The last 400#'er ultimately ended his life as he never recovered from his cut to his tailbone area from the big Barr hog caught during the Beaumont Tournament. For the people that are still against allowing Barr hogs in a stringer of hogs, maybe y'all need to have one of your teams best dogs killed by a Barr one day in a tournament to wake up and realize this isn't a game.

Me and Obama have been in some binds before. The most memorable one for me was a 353# Barr hog about 4 years ago. Parvo and girlfriend were bayed about a 150 yards in. Erik told me to go ahead and send him from a ways out as we had been in small hogs all day. From 60 yards out I sent him. Not a peep,  no squeal, and the bay dogs kept hammering. As soon as I get there, the gyps roll off. It was an extremely deep sided, narrow creek that was hard to maneuver in. Obama hung to him  flopping on the ear about 150 yards down the creek where it finally opened up. After forever, i finally was able to flip the hog. Me and Obama both just about passed out after I tied him. This is just one of dozens I'll remember about this dog

RIP buddy

353# Barr

Hate to hear that guys.  A good dog whether Cur dog or bulldog, when he's part of that many memories, he becomes part of the family.

two pretty good videos of him catching some big hogs in this link above.

Luckily Big E has a young replacement that will be ready to go by next year for him.

Sure hate to hear that. He was a catching machine.  That last Barr he caught was tuff and he did his job. I was there and know how  bad he was. People will never understand our ways they can stay on there side of the dogging world and I will stay on mine. Rip Obama
