If you can afford to feed puppy feed up until 1 year old do it.  Puppy feed is scientifically designed to help pups eyes, brains, ect grow.  I think feeding puppy feed until 1 yeard old is the most important part of raising dogs.

I've had issues with puppy food more than once where they were growing so fast they were getting crooked bones. Put them on adult food at the reccomendation of my vet and within weeks they straightened out. I don't ever feed it at my place any more. I'm not the only one who has had these puppy food issues. Good luck with whatever you do.

yes a lot of times the pups will be getting too much protein , cause most don't know when to quit eating , I start mine on adult food at about 3 or 4 months and up the fat content by adding   pure lard  to their feed a couple to three times a week .

Feeding puppy food must be at the right amounts listed by the manufactuer.  So many people overfeed puppies becuase they want them to be healthy and cute.  If you are feeding puppy feed at the right amounts, you should not have growth issues.  I've never had an issue with feeding puppies the right amounts.  I've also compared my dogs to litermates that were not fed puppy food and I can tell a huge difference in physical fitness and looks.

at 2.5 to 3 weeks I feed what the adults dog eat...I soak it in milk and make a mush out of it...at 5-6 weeks I start feeding moist and dry dog food 3 to 4 times a day and as they grow I cut back on how often I feed...I keep an eye on them and feed more ore less according to their appearance...worming is just as important to having healthy pups...

I let them stay with their mother to nurse until they are eight weeks old. But I start them on feed somewhere between 3 and four weeks old. I start them on the same feed as the adult dogs are on except I soak it until their teeth come in fully. We feed a high fat, high protein feed to all of our dogs so I figure its plenty good for pups too.

I only use puppy food for females carrying or nursing. I feed pups adult food. No need for rickets here.

My pups eat eukanuba large breed puppy food until 24 months. Then they eat blue buffalo with a mix of raw feed.
