I use chains. I can't stand the smell of on ground kennels when it rains. Haven't had any issues with smell with chains. Can't afford off ground so can't say anything about those. Just curious to see what everyone has.

Mine are on 20' leads. It seems to work good for them. Each one is just close enough to the next so they can fight and play a lil.

I like kennels on concrete floors...scoop the poop and wash down every day...keeps fleas, worms, flies, and the smell down to a minimum...

I have a concrete floored building and I built boxs 4x4 with lids  , theres 4 of them , they all have a door and can go out side to a large run area , I feed inside with these dogs and have elec. and water , lids open inside to be able to feed , and out side I have made long runs with car hood springs on each end with turn buckles and cable  anywhere to 50yrds to 75 yrds long with a pully and chain , they seem to like the runs better than the barn with a run ,  i like both ,

I have concrete floor kennels with a nice roof and I like them for all my dogs except my bulldog.  I scoop poop and wash the rest every day.  Hardley any smell and my houses stay nice and dry.  I hunt mostly gyps so having them in a kennel is a plu when one or more are in heat.  I also care a lot about how my property looks and I dont like the look of having eight dogs tied out.  And lastly, I think kennels protect my dogs from my kids and my kids from my dogs.  I do have chains in the yard for short period of time for tying them out.

Chains give the dogs more space than kennels most of the time unless you just have super short chains. I was always against chains till I had to use them and I actually like them better. I have mine chained in my fenced in part of my yard so I let them loose when I get home till I feed them.

I have mine on concrete. Love it. Keeps the dogs clean, dry and in shade. I am not against chains just dont like the look of them. Plus when it rains the dogs stay muddy(and cold in the winter) and wet. If concrete isnt in the budget look at making them off the ground with a treated wood deck.

We start our young ones on a chain. To get them used to being tied up and they seem to handle a little better. Then they get moved to the kennels off the ground. But right now we are short kennels so we leave the young ones chained!!

Some of mine will fight through the kennel around feeding time.  I've learned what dogs can be next to each other and what dogs cannot.

I have mostly females; my males are placed in between females.
