Does anyone have any opinions or experience on the use of vinegar for dogs? I was told that adding vinegar to the dog’s water would help keep fleas and ticks off, flies away, help with allergies, provide vitamins, minerals and other nutrients and keep mosquito larva from growing in the water. Sounds like they should raise the price….

mporter, I have used the apple cider vinegar for years and think it helps with the fleas and ticks but is not 100%. It does help with the algae. It is one of those things that cost very little and seem to help so I say use it. I do. Get the natural undistilled though. (IE: Braggs with the "mother"). Works best. John

I use it in My Chickens water, it is supposed to be an all natural wormer for my chickens, but of Course I have never had it checked to prove it. I know my goats will drink the Chicken water happily!

I've been using it now for a week. From what I've noticed is works well on the algae and I have not seen any mosquito larva. If you try it make sure you clean the algae out before adding the vinegar or the old algae will turn rank. Also, our fly population has gone down tremendously but we have been throwing every thing we could at them.

Never heard of using the vinegar in the water. I'm gonna give it a try in my chickens water.

Marty, Just make sure that it is the Apple Cider Vinegar, and was told not to use it in the galvanized waters as it reacts to it somehow.

Ok, glad you told me. I was going to use some of my 5% pickling vinegar. I'll go ahead and buy me some apple cider vinegar now that I know which to get. I'm using the 5 gallon plastic waterers. So it shouldn't be a problem. I use that type for both my chickens and my turkey's.
