Has anyone ever had a lot of signal bounce while using there system? Ive lost some dogs and cant get even close to finding their location because of the signal boucing and showing they are maybe two or even three places at once. Its very confusing... and these dogs aren't the ones to sit and wait on me to get back so its turned into a huge problem...and sometimes when using it one direction it will have a very loud strong double beep that are two different tones, then the other direction has just a very loud raspy beep. I might be dumb but im not for sure which is right because I could see the dogs being either direction.

I am deffinatly not a pro with using one of these systems but i feel i have a good grasp on how they work. Are any of your collars pretty close to each other in frequency? Just yesterday i had to turn off my collars that were in the buggie to track a dog that was in the woods and my collars are pretty far apart frequency wise.

Change the 9 volt battery in the unit, if it gets low it will act funny.

Are you using a yagi antenna or the little quick shot??? Throw the quick shot away and mount it on a yagi if you are.

Mike is right the quick shot does weird things sometimes. Also a collar that is on and close to you will have bleed over on the unit also. Ive found most people use way too much gain when tracking. Use collars with at least 1 channel between them like collar 1 and 3 not 1 and 2 this will help. For signal bounce try to get above whatever its bouncing off.

I just bought this not to long ago and I think it has a yagi...I found a few of my dogs with it but its just those two that is picking up funny...I walked for 10 hours yesterday trying to follow where it said the collars were but nothing..its very confusing. Maybe today now that they are the only two out there and non of the other collars are out running around it will help. I was wondering if the huge metal powerline poles were messing with it a bit...sometimes when I would go past one it would beep funny for a sec? the collars im tracking are on number 0 and 4.

Are the collars new or used? Could be the collar batteries are weak.

Used. I was wondering about the batteries with the collars...I don't know much about quick track since I used to use garmin but I just got this since my garmin went out on me. I had read about the collars and batteries somewhere else earlier this morning and it got me thinking maybe that's it.

that double beep sounds like you are having bleed over problems from another collar or collars...like already mentioned you need to turn off the other collars if you are able to...The tall powerlines are bad about giving you false signals as well...

Just like anything else you have to learn them.  Power lines impact them and I will move away from a power line.  Like others said, you may have to turn other collars off that are close to you.  Start at the close range and turn gain all the way down.  Barely increase the gain.  If you are hearing the loud beeps, you need to down in range and gain.

I've never lost a dog with my quick track.  Lost them with garmin.  Suggest placing collars on objects and then driving a distance and tracking back to the collar.  Harde to learn than garmin, but you have to trust it the beeps if you are doing it right.

Yeah im sure part of the problem is me not knowing it yet...I went during my lunch break and had a real good signal at medium range and then all the sudden went out. powerlines are lining the whole property and I didn't think of them until I was already there. Turning off the collars before was a problem but when I got the other dogs back I turned them off. I still had a bit of a double beep earlier but not as bad. im going back after work because I think I have an idea of where they are...at least the one collar worked on my hound. She had ended up at someones house and when I got there and asked for her collar too they looked funny...brought it out and they had cut it all up!

it seems its just these two collars...one is still giving a pretty good signal at medium and long but the other is a faint beep. What can I adjust to try to get that beep better?

start on long and high and then start turning down the range and gain until a slight beep in only one direction, dont think about which way you think the dogs are because you will make it beep that direction, if it will beep pretty hard on medium you should be able to call them out to you, a powerline will make it sound fuzzy when you stand underneath it and other collars that are on will make it click, if your hunting in the mountains you need to get up high and track from there because signal will bounce, if your dog is in water it will pick up but it will show him across from both sides you will need to get directly over top and straight down the antenna and you can go straight to them. if all this fails go find someone you know that use to have one before garmin come out and ask for some assistance. and then when you get dogs back put them around your yard and practice with it. and another thing where the coax cable is hooked to the antenna make sure it is all the way down and hasnt started to come off that will make it beep all over the place. hope this helps

The collars have a battery life too.  You may have to get another collar or send yours back to QT nad have them replace the battery.  The dial switch on the right is the gain.  You dont need it up all the way; best off keeping the gain low.

I finally found the two dogs who were giving the mixed signals...I think its that property I hunt. They ended up traveling pretty far and I finally got the beep pretty good in one general direction (away from all water and powerlines) so I ended up finding them. The property they were on at first is real low land with tons of huge power lines and swamp so it probably didn't help the signal... and yes T Bob I found sadies beep coming from a house, pull up and see her in their yard o I get out to go see her and find the people so they came running from the back of the house. They were like "oh shes yours.." I asked for the collar and they looked at me real funny and then sent the little boy out with the cut up collar saying he doesn't know what happened to it...its clearly cut up with scissors!
