So we went out last night. Bayed a good boar hog on the edge of a tank. He might have went 200lbs. I cut the bulldog loose from maybe 20yds. He slammed him and we caught the pig. Thing is my bulldog was pouring blood. Is a small hole under neath the right side of his chin. I packed mud and tied his neck with a belt and a couple shirts and carried him 1000yds outta there. My question for yall is, what next? I mean should I leave the shirts and mud till Im absolutely sure he isn't bleeding or wash him off and wrap it again. Maybe the vet? Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would buy a pack of beef liver and give him 1/2 a pound of raw liver a day for 2 or 3 days along with his dog food...but I wouldn't hunt him for a while until the cut is healed because it could open back up...

I thought about the infection, but when I pulled the shirts off to take a look it was leaking bad.

Just so everybody knows, as my profile describes I am far from a veteran. Really only been hunting the last 2 yrs. I've dealt with pleanty of cuts but never seen one make it that was losing that much blood. I mean it surprised me that we got him outta there. With that in mind I'm open to any and all suggestions. Getting attached to a cdis not smart although it has happened in my case. Anything thats gonna help me save him for another day ill try. I owe him that , we've caught a many hog behind him.

some say don't get attached and I say otherwise...just do what you can to keep them safe and maintain them as needed...and when one of the dogs is down and out you step up and be there and do what you can like you are doing...sometimes that is the difference that gets the dog over the hump...

Take him to the vet. If your willing to do what you can like you said good way to judge if you need to take them is if you think o man this is bad do I need to go to the vet. If you had that thought just go on an take em

I know the distance wouldn't slow me down from taking my bulldog to the vet if he's hurt. We ask alot outta these dogs and like what was stated above do all you can and hope it's enough

I'd clean/flush that wound right away before infection sets in. Do you have any injectable Penicillan on hand?

Ok so after everybody's expert input and great advice, and a call to the local vet I've concluded he got hit on an artery or a good vein. Vet says they can do no more than I can at home. My wife just checked him out and says the hole has stopped leaking and there are clear signs that it has coagulated. Hopefully I can clean him up this evening wrap with good bandages, start a strong cycle of anti-biotics and start his diet of raw liver. He will appreciate that MR. REUBEN. A big Thanks to everybody for great advice. "CROOKED EAR KREIG" and I appreciate it.

Something that is light and easy, get a ziplock baggy, put as much baking powder in it as you can and it still fit in your pocket. It's a cheap blood stopper. I wouldn't go to a bay without it.
