ok...my last post sounded kind of radical but it makes my blood boil for others to decide what I can and can't do like fishing and hunting etc...etc...it is legal and my right and we have biologist to let us know what the status of the game populations are etc...etc...

So true. Just how it seems folks have become 'sue happy' as of late, there's always somebody out there wanting to propose more laws and ignorant regulations!
Case in point, in Baton Rouge this past month, someone was proposing a law that dogs could ONLY be tethered outside for a maximum of ONE HOUR per day!!!! Needless to say, thank goodness, because of people SPEAKING UP....the bill was deleted and defeated!

I agree with what you said 100 percent...but more legislation is not the answer as you were saying in an earlier post...true, we have some real dummies out there and those few are the problem...a few bad pics here and there and the antis just love it...the few pics can and will make headlines and the neutral majority will vote alongside the antis...I believe I am pretty easy going but if it were up to me I would line up all the antis and send them through the gas chamber and make fertilizer for the wildlife out of them...kinfolks included...   agree 100% reuben, but wouldn't the gas residue possibly contaminate the fertilizer. a woodchipper would be more deserving for them  |

back to the topic, 2 things the old hunters told me, 1 you don't tell a man how to train or take care of his dogs or his kids. we may not like it . I hate when some no it all trys an tell me how to do something with my dogs wen im hunting my dogs, I really don't even like my friends touching my dogs when we hunt together.
well this probly don't make any cents cause im just getting in from hunting and no sleep

Naw, I don't think we were speaking of telling anyone how to handle/train or care for their dogs per se'.....as feeding them should be a bare minimum for any dog owner I don't permit anyone to touch my dogs while I'm working them either! I'm with you on that one. |

Yup take care of your dogs how you see fit. But when you go posting pictures online or saying things that make me look bad then you got me into your business. I mean come on we all wipe our rears but we don't take pictures and post them. Then you get some new person taking pictures because they think it is cool. But all they have is some aggressive dog and an animal. The anti's love that stuff. But it ain't hunters doing it at all. I ain't gonna lie, there have been some people I stay far away from because of the stuff they post. I don't take many pictures. Just write a letter to any editor and see what they do to it. There ain't no way I want pictures for people to do that to. Just go to the store and look at what they do with pictures of famous people. They take one picture and make up a whole story that is nothing but lies. But they have the picture they call proof. If I take a picture at all the hog is tied and dogs are on leads and not in the picture.

My sister is the worlds worst every time she comes over saying how skinny my dogs are then I go see her 40 lb cocker spaniel you tell me who's dogs aren't healthy. I think a lot of the problem is people not knowing what a healthy dog looks like

thats a very good point! I know lots of animal lovers who's animals are twice the healthy weight.Also a dog running game for several hours will make them look starved and My dogs get ticks on them every time I hunt them this time of year. I just keep a spray bottle with some permithian mix to squirt em down with when I'm taking their gear off. |

This was what I was trying to point out. Different people have different ideas of what is healthy, what is cruel, what is right and wrong. Would it be okay if, just because our sisters "thought" our dogs were too skinny, should they be able to take our dogs away from us? Think about that.
Same as antis taking our hunting rights away cause THEY "think" its cruel.
Like is said, don't take it the wrong way, just think about what your saying.
I agree 100% that a man or woman should take good care of their animals, and ive done my fair share of asking people to remove stupid pics that should NEVER be posted. It makes my blood boil too.
Just playing devils advocate, I guess.

My point is Mr Tom my dogs are really slightly over weight since I have kept them up this summer. Those yuppie people think that if a dog isn't as round as a beach ball it's too skinny.

that's true but we do have a friend and that is the dept. of vetranairy medicine that has been addressing the obesity problem in dogs in this country koodo's to them for finally stepping up . but we are all dog folks on here and i'm sure that we all know what was originally being talked about on here . and i'm sure we have all at one time or another said to ourselves [ dang that dog looks rough ] I know I have but , I keep it to myself i'm to old to wrestle some young kid for talking about his dogs lol
