I had 2, 4 month old pups. I noticed one was not eating and had black diareha Wednesday and then Thursday it was bloody diareha actually all blood and 30 minutes later it was dead. 2nd pup was ok except for mucus in stool so u took it to vet he did parvo test which was negative gave me antibiotics and today she was the same way so I took her back to vet he thinks its salmanilo( because I took them to bay pen Thursday was a week ago he thinks they ate something in the pen)the one is still living and I'm giving her fluids every couple hours. Any ideas what this is?

I have had one of my dogs show a false negative on the parvo test before so it could possibly be parvo.

It wouldn't surprise me but the vet said parvo pups vomit constantly. This pup does not. I really don't have much faith in vets seems like I always spend money for nothing

u worm the mother while she is nursing the pups have her up to date on her shots give the pups there first parvo shot at 6 weeks then 8, 10, and 12weeks they recommend 4 parvo shots now.   Then keep them dudes wormed and u shouldn't have any trouble.

The dog/pup will vomit if it has somethin in its stomach to throw back up. The will dry heve if there is nothing there. Bloody dieariha usualy is a good sign of both cocid n parvo, but if the vet said it wasnt either, id be lookin for a new vet. If there r any pups left u want to keep n they hav not shown signs of latharga, no apetite, n wont drink, u need to start them on an anti biotic regime, saline under the skin, sardines, eggs and plain yogart just as a safety precaution. The yogart provides extra enzymes, sardines for the iron n the eggs for protien. Salineunder skin will keep them hydrated, need around 100cc of saline solution every 3-4hrs, even if they have obsorbed the water, keep pumpin it to them.

I agree I will find a different vet next time. I only have one pup left. She will probably be dead in the morning. She is on 2 different antibiotics and steroid. I am giving 100 cc or saline every couple hours.

you might try putting fluids sub-q in it but it may be too late now wish you had posted sooner .. I use a product called re-sorb for calves it has glucose plus vitamins and electrolites that you mix with water  [ to bottle feed scouring calves ] but I use it sub-q in sick pups .  the dehydration and secondary infections that set in are what usually kill the pups .   anti-biotics and re-sorb has pulled many a critter through some tough times .  this sounds like classic coccidiosis . did you give the puppy shot that contains the corona vaccine ?   sorry for you troubles and stuff like this truly sucks  .

I am giving sub-q fluids she's on genamicin and another Antibiotic. I thought she would be dead by now the way she was acting last night.

If she aint eating, try her on an egg n a sardine or 2 by pureeing it n forcing it down her throat with big open ended syringe. Shoot a little at a time n give her 5-10 min between injections. If she keeps it down, try adding a lil more n wait. It took me 7 days to save 2 pups from parvo by using saline sub-q, eggs yogart n sardines.

Go get puppy wormer. They have a powder at TSC you just put it on food. I get a small can of food so they eat it it fast before another dog gets it.
