this is my opinion...if you don't want a gritty dog then sell her to someone who runs gritty dogs and if you don't mind running a gritty dog then get her a good running vest...

if you file her k-9s and she still wants to catch them she will loose hogs because she cant get a solid hold. bad idea in my opinion.

maybe so. Cousins dogs are filed from previous owner and they don't try to catch no more they are loose. Use to be rough. Really can't change the way a dog is

Got a bulldog and seen others without canines and they can still hold a hog. I don't think the canine grinding works myself but what do I know.

Cut her canines off and put her on a bad one, stop running a vest on her.  She will quit catching.
this will not work.

A lot of different opinions but nothing is guaranteed to stop a dog from catching, especially a half plot with 1/4 (like someone else mentioned).  I've been at this hog hunting for over 10 years now and here is what I would do.

Enjoy the dog for what she is and hunt the heck out of her, or give/sell her to someone that is looking for that type of dog who will hunt the heck out of her.

that's exactly what I did I didn't want to part w her BC she is a real good lil dog ......so I bought her a running vest and its been torn to hell but shes not dead yet so its been working so far .just thought someone may have ran into this situation and over came it .in the last 15 yes it seems as though my dogs have been leaning toward the catchy side of hog dogs IdK why it just the way is been lately

I fall in the camp of get some rough dogs to go with her or sell her to someone that runs catchy dogs. Myself I'm glad folks don't like catchy dogs. That means I get more to choose from when y'all don't like them. Heck I'm crazy I like them dogs that sing em a song before they sink teeth in their rear. Lol

I have 2 catahoulas that just turned 7 years old and they had their canines filed when they were young dogs and they have learned over the years to back up and bay!! Now they are semi-loose baying and won't catch! Takes a while for a dog to figure out that they can't hold a big hog but when they do they will back up it just may take a while!

x2...my opinion...we tend to see things differently and sometimes it has to do with how we think and our experience level but that is what makes the world go round...

Some dogs start out gritty and if they get lucky and live long enough they get smarter with age and learn how far to push their grit they back off accordingly and they live a long time...others don't back off much and will eventually not make it or they will have to learn to hunt in a vest...I don't think it has to do with filing the teeth back...a good example is a bull dog that loses it's canines and he will continue doing his job without them...just not as effective as before but some can still do a fair job without them...

Cut her canines off and put her on a bad one, stop running a vest on her.  She will quit catching.

you can put a muzzle on her and cut the cutters on a 200 pound boar and let her have at it...she will respect a hog for a while...but she will probably catch with a catchy dog...

This is exactly what I would try, a good mean boar hog will tune her up, id bet dang good money on it.
