Once I bought a brand new pair of New Balance running shoes for 5 dollars when Wieners was closing down. Those were the best running shoes I ever owned and if I had known then I would have bout all they had left...

but getting to the welfare business there is a way to wean folks off of the system but it seems that the government likes keeping a certain percentage of folks in the slums...it is good business for the court judicial system...also keeps law enforcement in business as well...not to mention all the government agencies...

The system sucks in another way...example; when one couple acts responsibly and they save money in a 401k and buy a house and a few acres of land and pay everything off for retirement and when the spouse gets a serious illness there will not be any assistance because they have a nest egg and own a house...

and another couple makes the exact same money and live in an apartment and spend all their surplus money on vacations and partying along with some recreational drugs...the spouse gets the same illness as the one mentioned prior and they get the government assistance because they do not own anything yet they are the ones who did not live responsibly...so the message is that those who act responsibly get punished for it but those who do not are rewarded...

Haha... Putting it that way, I'd make him wear them too!!

From the way I read it was they were just so worn out they had holes... I ain't one for telling people how to live, but I can't understand how some complain about not having necessities but feed dogs, always have cigarettes and beer, etc etc...  ESPECIALLY if the family needs something...

The shoe depot has some decent brand name shoes for $20 believe it or not...
When times are hard you cant be too picky...

Good luck on your job... Hope it gets better for you...

There ain't any beer or cigarettes in my house that is for sure. I am buckling down and taking it more than anyone in my house. I make sure everyone eats before I do. Everyone gets new clothes and shoes before I do. My dogs eat before I do. That is why I thought I might have to sell my dogs to make it through this month. But I can feed them through tomorrow and then go get food on Friday. Everyone has food they will eat. I am eating rice with some meat from the freezer. My younger two did not want to eat rabbit or turtle. So I just eat what they won't. My oldest eats whatever he can like me. It is tough but I can make it without the government helping. I am working on my teaching certification and I want to go teach in the bad schools. Most of the raised on food stamps. Maybe if they hear there is another way to live I can help a few learn to take care of themselves.

Tell you what, two weeks ago I was grocery shopping and I get in line to check out and the 5'0 300 lb woman in front of me had an entire buggy full of ribeyes, pork chops, sausage, chicken breasts, chicken quarters, sirloins, and bacon. One bag of ten lb potatoes..... Not even exaggerating I watched as she was checking out just in pure awe lol. I mean the basket was completely full. Total rang up 500 bucks and some change. Pulled out her lone star card and I almost puked. She sure as hell eats better than me and mine. At least buy some hamburger meat though woman... When I came up, the cashier was an older lady and said "I guess I should quit this place and live like that, I love me some red meat." I'm all for helping anyone that needs it but those that take advantage or those that don't try anything to help themselves are the scum of the earth IMO. I just don't think I could ever do that, but I know if it ever came to it, we sure as hell wouldn't be eating steaks every night.

I had a couple come through today buying all kinds of nice stuff and a cup of coffee. They pulled out the Lone Star card It paid for everything but the cup of coffee. Then they had got attitude at me because I asked for the money that was not covered. When they got all upset about having to pay for the coffee after "spending" all that money I wanted to just tell them that they did not spend any of their money they spent other people's money. I had to just smile and be nice. I am working my rear end off and can't eat as nice as they do and they complain about having to pay for their own cup of coffee?

It does piss me off to see a family with two carts full of food and bust out that card and see a wad of cash and then see them hop in a way fancier ride than most and roll off.

its not only in texas its alabama to, over here  its not the lonestar card its called something else i hear people talking about it all the time. im all for helping people that are having a hard time and trying to help theirselves and would be more than happy to do so but the government does not want to help that type of person, if i could go tommorow and get one of them cards i would ,not because im sorry or lazy but the way i see it i work for everything i got and it would just put a little more cash in my pocket for gas or a new tracking collar or just something nice for my wife it looks like to me the government wants to give it away to them kind of people i dont see anything wrong with a person wanting to put more in his pocket getting one, and i have paid in my fair share of taxes over the years it would be nice to get a little back, and i would rather someone that paid as much taxes as anyone that works get a little back out of government that does nothing for us than for someone that is just to sorry to get up at 4 in the morning to get it.

Churches have food pantries that give out free food. But that does not give the government a reason to raise taxes or create government employees so they can raise taxes even more to pay the people that give away your money. It is not about the food it is about people abusing a system that taxes everyone that works when there is already free food.

ok. Pls heed. Is it better to point fingers at the exploits people do because they're lazy. or is it better to say oh I'm sorry I hope things get better for you. if you react in spite a lot of times you get spite in return. if you react with a genuine feeling of concern and compassion. Dont convet thy neighbors steak and chicken...just joking. Slap dat fat beoch and say get a job foo...ya have ta say it all gangster like...helps with effectiveness

I have to be nice and smile the whole time Most of the Lone Star users try to be descrete. I have no problem with people needing some help. It is the people with all the nice clothes and cars that think other people should pay for their food because they are entitled that piss me off.

ya know ive noticed lately that people have a huge sense of entitlement... like they deserve something. nobody wants to work for it anymore. it sad. Cuz sometimes you can have the American dream without having to work for it..:-(
