i agree purebred , they are pricey , little too pricey to let a hog get ahold of if you ask me ! lol  my friends drahthaar will bark a few times and then catch , its crazy watching a freaking bird dog catch hogs lol !  hes going to let me breed him to my female game bred pit , im sure that is goin to make a pretty good cross ..... we'll see .

My buddy has one and he and I both hate him. He is the most hard headed dog I have ever seen. I did think about breeding to him for his hunt.

I have never hunted with one but have heard nothing but good things about them...if they aren't too far removed from Europe you should have a good chance of getting a good pup that will grow up to be a good representative of the breed...

A buddy of mine has a really great one. He'll hunt whatever you want him to. He had him with him fishing in Alaska and a bear show up. He took the bear on and turned the bear

I have also read that they make exceptional blood tracking dogs...they will pull a buck down and hold em...

Very true!
I have seen two of them take down a full grown Nilgai bull. ( wounded)
I would have to say they have the bottom of a BMC.

yes and no ....... they came from breeding gsp's and  wire haired pointers but from what i read they were after a dog that could do it all , so 60-70 years of select breeding ..... wahla !
