It's a short section of PVC pipe with a "foam noodle" on the end of it. The noodle is something you get at Wal Mart for the kids to play on in a swimming pool. The end of the PVC has line tied to it with a baited hook. Drop the "paint roller" in the water, then come back in a bit and it will be moving around with a fish on the end.

Google up "jug fishing for catfish" and you'll have yourself a new hobby.
I used to be BIG into jug fishing, and still do from time to time. I always made mine from the medium sized gatoraid bottles. The necks are big enough to stuff in white packing peanuts for flotation, and save you from having to paint them. (Jug lines have to be white for sport fisherman according to Texas law)
Dang work just keeps getting in the way of all my hobbies!

I only tried it a few times, the lake got rough and they washed to the bank and debris on livingston, I like a trotline better myself, but jugs are very effective as well... what lake you catch them cats on? my welding rig says nothing finer than a pipeliner, my boat says nothing finer than a trotliner!!! good mess of fish fellers
