yeah you can kev  , I told you that yesterday  .  just straight out of the bottle I usually would give about 1.5cc to grown dog and 1/2 cc to pups . It will throw them off of their feed a bit it upsets their stomachs .

It's an over-the-counter product used to treat coccidiosis...

yep I have had good luck using corid and sulmet as well . the corid is the ingredient in the medicated chick starter . for cocci prevent and treatment as is sulmet which is sulfamethazolonone  or some big ars word lol  . I use the sulmet in the puppys drinking water as well as for my birds when they first start drinking , cause if you raise chickens you have cocci on your yard  .

From what I gather its both Justin. You can use it in the water for young pups as a preventative and also once a month for older dogs as a preventative if it develops on your yard.

Orally straight...I think is only when already infected. Robert? Mike?

Most puppies get it from a whelping box that has not been cleaned regular but like halfbreed said if you have chickens running around, you more or less have it in the ground.

My pups (babies) are fine. I whelped them away from my dog yard. A 5 month old pup came down with it while I was on vacation and I didn't catch it in time. Now it looks as if my two best dogs have it as well (kenneled right next to the pup).

I believe I've got it whooped now and we're on the road to recovery. 1 1/2cc Penicillin every day for the last 5 days and I'll keep it up a couple more, Cordit orally and in the drinking water the last couple days (refilled the water today and rededicated and I'll keep it in there for a few more days) and a bag of ringers lactate split between the 2 over the last few days and another bag I'll use till i think they're out of danger from dehydration (that's the most important thing).

My gyp started eating today and it looks like Jasper is right behind her, hopefully he'll eat tomorrow.  I SURE have my fingers crossed.

I medicated the water on the whole yard and Ill keep it medicated for the recommended 5 days. Only 1 other dog showed any signs of stress but he's back to normal now and they are all eating and drinking fine.

yep if you keep your pens and housing clean and disinfected with bleach you are ok . but once they get older and you let them out to run around while socializing them and all , they will pick it up . usually from eating ckicken poop [ puppys just love chicken poop ] lol  or when a wild bird lands in or around the pen eating dog food and poops in the pen . a bottle of sulmet is only about ten bucks and will last a long time when added to the water . just a precaution I use because cocci is a killer . it is as  bad as parvo looks and acts the same  . lots of folks claim their pups got parvo after they had all their shots when in reality it was cocci and not the parvo  . what's the old saying   an once of prevention  ect. ect.

Well Robert...not quite out of the woods...Jasper still has me worried but I HOPE he's turned the corner.

I tell you this...Cordit (until sulmet is available again) in the water once a month from here on out. I lost a dang good prospect......I sure as hell don't want to lose my best dog.....Once is enough on this B. S.
