I believe the only differences from the dc40 is better reception, and a bark monitor. The bark monitor will only work with the 320 and an upgrade. if the dog barks it will send a signal to the astro the same as if it were on point, treed, sitting etc. bigger thicker antenna also

I thought I read where the 50's were tied into more sattelites thus giving more range and faster updates to the system .  geez about the time I finally start thinking on getting a system they upgrade and a new one comes out   lol  . I may just wait on the garmin 10,000 and the dc 675's   lol  .

When they come out with newer version, i'll sell my 220 and 8 dc30's, and pick up a 320 and dc 50's used. I want to see which system garmin plans to settle on , the alpha, new dc 50's with 320, or a combo of the 2.  I just got a feeling the alpha or the 320 is gonna be phased out, why would a business not consolidate and make one great system as opposed to 2 competing systems.  Just thinking, but i wonder if alpha sales  were dissappointing so they decided to throw in behind the 320 handheld? Seems if u had a new system like alpha, you'd throw the new tech dc50's to the alpha technology unless you were going to abandon that system.
What ya'll think?

Mine should be here tomorrow . I lost my 320 huntin a month ago and order a new one with the dc50 to try one . I think the alph would be the way to go if you didn't have a shocking system and needed a tracker as well but most of us have a shocker and a garmin as well so I think that is why the alph hasnt went over as good. I got miné yesterday And took it for a test tonight and like it. Did not lose signal in some thick stuff at .75.  The dc40 some times goes in and out.  I know it does not take long to connect with your unit.  The bark feature i have not played with yet.  It comes with two antenias bogh are long.  Will try the comparsion  this weekend with dc 30 and 40 collars
