Alright I've looked at all the past water system setups. Is there any recent ideas anybody has created or tried and has worked for them? I have a brother and sister duo and they both twice a day tip there bucket over and such. The Gyp takes hers in the jump box with her. I said aight ill fix that. Put another 5 gallon bucket in there, then there was 2 buckets in her jump box then 3 and then last 4 bucket she horded in her box. Im thinking of doing the pig lickers. What is every ones input on the lickers or do they might have a solution. Thanks J.D.

Get a 50 gal rubbermaid tub, she cant haul it around even empty. If not enuf room for a tub, n they r on cjains, dig a hole n bury the bucket a lil less than half way, if in kennels, tie the bucket to the kennel. U can take a tck tire, cut 1 of the side walls out, turn it inside out, nail or screw it to a piece of 3/4" plywood, cut square and n lil wider than the tire is, run a bead of silicone on the outside of the tire at the mating point of the wood n tire. Then lay a good thick layer of silicone on the inside bead and put a thick layer on the entire piece of plywood on the inside to seal it off from the water.

Hands down the automatic lickers are where it's at. Dogs drink when they want and you never have to worry about tipped over buckets, filling up buckets, or dirty water.

I use the galvanized 12 quart metal buckets with a double snap hooked to the fence and the handle of the bucket . I have had a few dogs that loved to dump water lol . I even ratchet strapped a few 5 gal plastic buckets to the trees .

I used to have access to SS pipe and would cut a 6" length of 8" diameter pipe and weld a 1/8" thick bottom on it. Use it for all my water bowls. Had a couple dogs over the years that liked to dump em and play with them so I welded about a 3" pipe nipple on the bottom and drove a stake in the ground and slipped the nipple down over that. Never had one get it off that. Those bowls are lifetime.

It doesn't take them long at all. To help them along put a little peanut butter on the nipple. I just put a 5 yr old dog in one of my kennels thats never drank from one and she picked up on it right away. You just might have to show them where the water comes from the first few days.

take a plastic 55 gallon drum and cut in 1/3 peices. you now have 2 water tubs that they cant tip and are hard to chew up.

I've found out if you tie the handle around a T-post or to the fence works and don't use a light colored bucket it builds Algie faster than a dark one. The orange buckets from Home Depot work good you don't have to clean water buckets so often.

We have the nipples for waterers for 7 years in our kennel and love them. They are not the pig lickers tho, these are for dogs, there is a difference in how they are made

For those that use the automatic Waters (nipples) how do they hold up in freezing temperatures? We dont get a lot of freezes but do get a few a year. Also, how much drip do they have? I am thinking about putting them on the inside of the kennels & then freezing will not be a problem. Thanks in advance.

Mike, mine have never given me problems when it froze outside. They are pretty much all galvanized steel. Mine are about 5 years old and don't drip at all unless something is agitating the licker. You cant beat them in my book, all the drum and barrell ideas are fine but you still have to go change or refill water every day.
