I think that some of those English pointers are too much dog for the average person... Some are for certain. Some people like what I call a yo yo rooter which is one that roots around like a hog and comes back and forth like a yo yo. Dogs like that make me want to puke. I want a bird dog that runs to the front, hunts likely objectives, and keeps his/her eye on me. Good ones can come in and hunt singles close to you and do a great job of it. We used to put a couple of dogs in a harness and let them pull for an hour in front of a horse. Then we run them for an hour out of the harness as a workout. This builds tremendous front ends, legs, and back ends on dogs. I can pick an all age pointer out of a thousand just by looking and how they are built.

Your catch dogs bayed? There not catch dogs period! If I sent my catch dogs in and they bayed they would no longer be hog dogs.

I said Lets just say they when to baying .... figure of speech....before the first release we had to walk the pits 3.10 of a mile to make the first release that was in bamboo that was semi thick they did catch but they just got thrown or broke off from him before we could get in there , second time released they were in briar patch about 75'l an 35'w that's mostly where the damage was done are finish catch dog red legs ways already banged up an now are started catch black dog is now. They are mixed red nose with Colby pit! pits in briars don't mix well with a big well trained hog! And mike yes they hunted this leased lands for a tournament, The older man that owns the land said his horse farrier that leases it for horses an cows was on the hunt with them! now that's just what I'm hearing from the owner...

red nose? Is that a breed of pit? Or a bloodline? Really its just a color, its recessive genes and can show up in any line and does. But their are lines famous for that color variation like ofrn or red devil/corvino.
