I have seen some dogs and owned a few that would bay a hog in a pen but were not much good in the woods.

I have one that hunts good but is slow as molasses. If all my dogs jump together he will be 100 yards behind in 400 yards. He bays real good and looks good in a pen. My only reason for saying he would make a better bay pen dog is his speed.

This is my opinion and nothing more, im not tryin to knock your dog in any way but my thoughts are that if your more experienced friends are saying she would make a good bay pen dog then the first thought in my mind is that she bays good usually on the hogs nose but doesnt pressure the hog too much once the hog is found but she isnt finding any or enough hogs for you consistently to consider her a strike or lead dog. ........make any sense?

And hell man this is just a shot in the dark, its hard to answer the question without ever hunting with her.

Agile, athletic, focused, bays tight, will use its teeth to stop one.

Got all that and you MAY do well.

Yea Kevin...she has that Catahoula bay pen style...I reckon an experienced person that likes to compete in the bay pen could possibly do something with here...but I also see that she is a bay buster kind of dog but maybe in the woods she might stand back some because she isn't making any attempt in committing to catch this 70 pound shoat...

Reuben...I never saw the video but yeah...if its what you describe...shoot, just more pen time would be all it would take to get her into competition shape. Of course...there are small things you can do here and there to help, but its really just puttin in time...getting the experience. Honestly, They either have it or they don't. That's my opinion anyway.

yea Halfbreed...at one time I probably had a world class bay pen dog but he didn't stay long cause I tripped all over him on the way to a bay...got up about 50 yards from a bay and his light bulb would finally trip...
