Well me and Kyle let the dogs out at about 7 am this morning .  Horn , Whitey, Bell and Bo the catch dog is who we took.  Get down to the creek lettem go .  They hunt really good and really fast .  We went from section to section checking each one along the way down to a levy and a gulley that runs threw it with Georgia Cane running all down it .   We get down there Horn , Whitey and Bell are looking hard in and out in and out .  Then Kyle pulls up on top of the Levy and all the sudden all three dogs go off at one time.   They are not but about 25 yds from us but the Cain is so dang thick its hard to get threw and get to the gulley were they had the big boar hog.  Boy they had him bayed right and tight ,  Kyle and me work our way in there didn't want to let the CD go to soon cause the hog would hear him breaking cain getting there.  So we get about 15 yds from the bay but you still could not see the gully because it was so thick.  I unhooked Bo and he was gone .  He gets almost there and the damn big boar breaks boy you talk about a Pisser man o man .  He runs down the gully me and Kyle haulin ass to the top of the levy to see what is going on . Behind the levy is a open hey patch about 700 yds are so long then a tree line that is about 200 yds thick then a road then the creek .  We get to the top of the levy and it was just unbelievable the damn big boar hog was already 600 yards down the hey patch with dogs hanging off both sides of his back end and him still running wide ass open he hits the first tree line and shakes the dogs .  Now the bulldog was trying to catch up but never made it to them we picked him up on the way to them.   He gets threw the tree line then crosses the road and then crosses the creek and buddy he has his foot on the gas and he aint letten up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The dogs stay and stay with him over 2 miles and the thing is the road forks one way goes to a major highway and the other way goes to the same highway just in a different direction.  Well wouldn't you know it they got him bayed right in the middle of the fork 2 miles away and we cannot get to them at all.  We went from one side to the other trying to get there but just could not he knew excaly were he was going and he got there.  Finally at about 10 am the dogs start coming back one by one .  Bell first then Whitey then Horn .  Thank God they were not cut up .

I cannot wait to get this Cracker dog back in the pack it is starting to cool off n the mornings now so I might start back to taking him.  I also cannot wait to get some of his offspring up and I don't care what anybody else wants are thinks I hope the hell they are just like him and will mount a full grown Lion if that what it takes .  This running is for the birds folks and my dogs are pretty dang ruff but they aint dumb and suasidal they gonna catch what they can and try to stop the rest they are not gonna mount something they cant handle but with one of these Fla dogs one he mounts they gonna all T Bone these big running SOB's!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ve had a belly full of running hogs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  At 600/700 yds that boar hogs assend looked as wide as my fourwheeler I don't know how much are hog big he was but he was big nuff !

Sounds like you need some dogs that hang the head, not the nuts and ass. Wink Those cur cow dogs should help with that problem. All this talk about ass end and nut dogs makes me laugh,(settin them down) I think is the term these youngters use nowadays. Ain't a dog alive going to consistently stop rough stock from "behind". With that being said, there ain't a dog alive going to stop them all. Sounds like you've got one their that knows the routine. Catch 'em up .

Yes sir ,  Am with ya .  I tell ya what they had both nuts and he was dragging them like a parachute never slowed down it was noting but a big cloud of dust .  I hear all these stories also about these great nut sittem down dogs but I can tell you am like you I ain't ever seen one do it consistently  on a big big boar hog maybe some smaller types but on a big bad son of a gun like this one it don't happen all the time that's for sure.  Its either mount up and get run over are get the hell out the way on these big boars over here you might get one to bay every now and then but its becoming rare rare .  Am also with ya on the head dogs that Fla dog will mount one in a hurry and it don't make no difference if he 400 are 100 lbs and I hope the majority of his offspring is just like him with the rest being just ruff as all hell and back .   When that big bad son of a gun broke he ran straight over one of the dogs you could hear it ,  he didn't hesitate when he decided to go he went and only way you gonna catch him is have enuff dog to stop his big butt other than that you gonna do just what we did run run run and he is probably still running !

This is what was the real Pisser!

It was the perfect place to bay and catch a hog are just catch a hog.  There is a levy that goes between all these crop fields and the only cover is right there on the levy because there is a good gully that runs right down all along the levy and it is full of Georgia Cane and just ole scrub brush .  This levy is 4/500 yds long and open fields on all sides of it. Nearest tree line is like I said about 700 yds so if the hog breaks he is gonna have to run atleast 700 yds in the open.  You would think you could get one stopped out  in the open like that and be able to see it and also help on the four wheeler if you had to .  LOL.   But these old hogs always seems to amaze me just when you think you seen most of it,  you aint seen chit !

Just think what would have happened of ol Cracker rolled into the bay from 2 miles out... probably wouldn't be a pretty sight when you got there.

Sounds like they need a little more "stick & stay" if they quit they bay and came back that fast???

Heck I cant remember the last time I was 25 yards from a bay much less felt I needed to get closer to cut the bulldog! It really must have been thick Jimmy.  I have read this same story 100 times, prolly the same hog. Yall must have ninja hogs or something, my dogs rarely lose these Arkansas hogs and I don't have nothing but culls.

They got enuff stick and bay for me, all I want and need cause any more and Am gonna be paying big time trespassing tickets and the next one on me is gonna cost me big time .  If ole cracker would have been there,  there is a big time chance the hog would not have went anywere and if he did its just the price I guess I got to pay.  We have been on big time sticks like you talking about and same dogs also that have taken us all day long and half the nite sometimes it happens sometimes it don't today am dang glad it didn't because the next crossing was a major highway and big time traffic .  No My dogs have all the stick and stay I want and need and that's all that matters and we catch just as many hogs and big hogs as the next guy .  What I need is some head stickers and Am hoping they come along quick .

We have runners galore over here. That's what I hope to use my stags and future stag x bull terrier crosses for....to shut down them runners! I ain't never seen such a short legged bad bodied animal run SO darn fast! It's amazing how athletic these hogs are.

ahhaahahah Aint no problem man .  Am really glad they didn't stay no longer than they did.  They went a long ways and was already off the proptery.  That main highway sckeers the hell out of me and dogs.  I understand about the big bottom and how it will get you hogs its just I cant have those big big bottom dogs were I hunt they get me in big big time trouble real quick around here.  That's why I got to have something that is gonna really put some heat on a hog right then and there so we can try and get it stopped before it even starts to run.

Yall don't get me wrong I like big bottom but a man has to have big time big bottom places to hunt those big big bottom dogs.  If I had places like that Hex yeah I would love to own them but we don't have those types of places no more biggest place is about 3500 acres and mine now will be off that and gone most the time.

What you said about the Fla dog caught two miles away I know exactly what you mean and that is my main worry with those kinds of dogs but if you gonna run them then I guess I just have to put up with it ,  its gonna happen sooner are later been there before.

Heat Exhaustion and possibly heat stroke back when he was out in West TX on a Cow.   Hard to hunt him in the real heat now soon as it cools down I will be back to hunting him .
