That is VERY odd. Only the one side is like that? Only time I've seen that indention in the head like that is in an extremely old dog, or a severely emaciated dog, and he's neither! I must say, I'm stumped......

That is odd.  Almost seems like he may have a soft spot in his skull.  I would keep a close eye on hid left eye.  Any deviation in the eye, could be a sign.

Yep, just the left side. I will keep a watch on him and hopefully it goes away, he already acts weird enough-now he's gonna look weird too. It's not feeling like a soft spot, but it sure looks that way. He's not in pain either.

On a side note, if it remains, I can blame his lack of "hunt" due to some brain illness....lol....and technically he was my 1st cur dog, so there's a lot of  attachment to this guy and his character. he has put his life on the line for me a dozen times or more and is still tickin, gotta luv it

Could've had a cyst and it finally started going down and left a hole... I had a dog awhile back do that. Never showed any pain either.

I had a dog with a spot on his skull just like that. My dog got it from a mag light... Montgomery county sheriff  hit him when he came on my property late one night and the dog bit him.

Goen off what peach creek said, and a pup I have here at house made me ask an older cpl that has been in the game for awhile. The pup I have here got into a heated match with his brother and got the worst end of the stick. His head swelled up and took a cpl days to go down. About a month he started to loose his muscle on the left side of his head. This is what was explained to me, he had nerve damage from the tussle and lost control over the muscle which cause it to loose its mass from lack of use. The pup is fine and can still hear and eat just has a lop sided head. Maybe your dog took a hard hit and lost feeling in the nerves or they were damagaed.

One thing about my dogs spot on his skull was if the sunk in spot swelled up you needed to stay away from him. He was very grumpy when his head looked swollen. His head would go from sunk in to swelled up every couple weeks. I had to put him down a few months after the cop bashed his skull because he turned on us.

Damn Travis, i thought the first 1/2 of your story was bad but that just flat out sucks. Sounds like some SERIOUS brain damage........i can imagine how ticked off I would be if I were in the same situation! Sorry to hear it, thats just a bad deal all the way around.

His heads lookin bout the same. Now, his bottom left jaw is shrinking. His jaw bone muscle is kinda disappearing.......I'm guessing I should take him to a vet and see what they have to say.

Yep, not a good deal peachcreek

Searching online, I guess it could be a brain tumor. That's what this is. The article is really helpful. I think it's a rare deal for Machito since he's only 18 mths.
