Anyone ever set up over a feed lot or bait and just waited, dogs in the back of the truck or chained up near by?

Just wondering if anyone's ever tried it....how it worked out. We've done well on my new place every time we've hit it but there is 1 feed lot/hay pen that the hogs are hitting on a regular basis....nightly I think. Thought about just setting up a stake out type deal....just for the fun of it.

If they are coming at night why can't you turn dogs loose in the morning time and get on them it would be a lot easier than sitting out there for how ever many hours waiting on them to come to you. You go to them

Lol....we GET them every time (so far amyway, lol). It's just not right at the pen.... We usually cut their track near the river....about a half mile away.

Not an issue getting on hogs or catching hogs....just thought I may try something new. Just for kicks.

Yep all I need is a cd that is fast or sneaky lol.  Has worked for me numerous times and to me is just as fun as humting the thrill of not knowing what is going to step out.  We just had them on leads and a quiet dog is the only way to go a loud mouthy dog will get u bisted lol

kevin on the back side of the farm at the swamp I was feeding pigs daily . and they would come right at dusk like clockwork . I sat back there many an evening when I first started out doing what you're talking about . I kept the dogs in the truck most times up at the gate going down to the creek . I would just go and cut them loose when the pigs came in and walk them towards the swamp . that's when I used to kill all the hogs without getting across the road into kimbrels farm land  . but eventually after being hit hard they quit showing up so regularly . many I caught right on the corn pile  .

Yeah I have used this idea a few times here in Australia, pigs comin up out of the river n passing through one of the places I hunt not feeding just walkin through, just find where they come under the fence then where they head out, pick a nice spot out in the middle of the crop at night between the 2 points roll out the swag n tie a lugging dog(rcd) to the swag or your ankle n have a sleep dog will wake you up pulling, best to use a quick release clip.
