Poor dog has a sore on one of his hears that won't heal. It's been like this for a while. How would y'all treat this?

Looks like sores that can be caused by fly strike. If you can get to a feed store, I'd get some cram called SWAT. We have a bulldog here that gets something similar around the rim of his ears every year and we use SWAT on it and it helps heal it up and It repels flys and gnats. Good stuff.

Thank you ma'am.

Oh you're welcome. That SWAT should do the job. Darn ear sores make the dogs shake their heads a lot, continuously bustin 'em back open....and when the gnats and flys aggravate them, it makes it worse....so the SWAT repelling the bugs makes a world of difference. Hope it helps.

SWAT is awesome stuff. His ears looked better the next day. I will continue to use it until they are completely healed.

Ear mites can cause a dog to scratch their ears and leave a similar sore and they will shake their heads as well.

Thanks for the input.  I am hoping that gnats are to blame.  His ears aren't quite all the way healed, but they are still getting better.
