Just wanting to get everyone's opinions on loud catch dogs vs a quiet one. Do y'all think loud CDs will make a hog break when it already has baydogs barking in its ears? Can the hog even hear the cd? Iv hunted with both types and caught hogs with both but defionatly prefer a quiet one. Wat y'all think?

I think often times any extra noise made can cause them to break.  I want a catch dog to lead on a loos lead if possible.  I also believe a catch dog that can pick and choose the route they approach the hog, instead of one that just goes wide open breaking brush, will catch more hogs.  I try to approach from down wind if possible.

X 2  I had a buddy who had a pit who picked his way thru & I dont believe that dog ever missed a hog.

Myself, most of the pits I have had go full bore & it stands to reason they make more noise going in which can cause a hog to break & also in thick cover, they can miss, even the good ones.

Quite and smart is what I want. Mine I guess is semi- open haha, when he is in the box and hears em he may whine alittle or scratch at the door, but when I get him on that lead he is quite and just listens. Cut him loose he seems to look for the best path, hhe hardly ever just barrels into a bay. Im not in favor of an overly excited bulldog, kinda like prize fighters I like the strong silent type, all about business and no bark.

Based on the definition of loud-I dont allow my BD to whine and wimper.  That stops real fast with me.  I dont think the hog is paying much attention to the "loud" CD when the hog has a bunch of dogs baying in it's face.  I think the hog is more likely to break when it hears people talking and yelling.  I walk in as quiet as I can.

I hate a whining/barking bulldog in the box or on a lead.....when the dogs are bayed i want to be listening to them not some damn whining ass dog at my feet.
