Got a yearling pair here that I am tickled to death with. Got mine from Swamphunter on here. Not sure if he's planning on doing the breeding again or not though.

Do either of you run vests on your stags and if so what do you use? I just got a 3 yo stag that is long and lean and I was wondering what would fit him/allow him to move

All the dogs I run are expected to find and catch so they all wear a vest. They type I use are designed to be on a runnin dog. Theyre all ozzie vests. My suggestion for a stag vest is when your looking at one make sure the leg holes are long from front of shoulder/leg back to wear the leg can make full range of motion at the ribs. If it stops the dogs legs from making that full range motion when they pull theyre elbow back at wide open run youll be killing theyre speed. Which is the stag/hairy dogs advantage.

Mine is strait catch as well so I definitely need a vest. I thought you were going to say the Australian style plates. I have seen pigga frigga and hairy holders on old posts and it seemed like these were made or at least distributed in the us. Can you get them in the us or did you import?

I like the breast plates, the range of motion and fit clearly look better but I am wary of the seatbelt material. A hunting partner of mine has one built for a Pitt and it is much heavier when wet than cordura and viper cloth. I hunt in LA so swimming is expected on hunts

I run the Pigga Frigga on my Stag and he can still swim (not real good) but he don't drown.

Just a note on the Pigga Frigga. I have had two pass through holes. One got the dog and one didn't. I will say it has held up to some good hogs though. After everything I have read on here about vests it seems they can all be penetrated at some point. Overall I really like the vest.

And a pic of my old ugly dog

Thanks guys those all look like solid vests that fit well. Centex, as you have had all three, do you have a preference? Is the pigga frigga mostly seatbelt webbing or is it a cordura type material?

Here is my dog Wolf by the way.

Also, has anyone ever clipped a long haired stag down?

All three are seatbelt only, of the three I like the JS Ent. and Hairy holder because it can be got local. Ive heard of clipping and thought about it myself depending how each dog handles the heat

Theyre all doin good the bully Danes are coming on well just this past weekend we picked a spot to drop in the crops and as soon as the two hit the ground they went 900 and cought a little boar. Took these rookies for the ride but that was the only pig of the night so we'll have to get em on some on the next trip

Clipping in the hotter months works good for me. It also helps in finding those skin lacerations that don't bleed. That ur rougher dogs get
