22-250?

I know this is a hog hunting site but I figured who would be better to ask than a bunch of hunters from all over with a lot of different opinions.  I want to know about a 22-250 who makes one that is a tack driver. I got a few browning rifles and was thinking about getting a browning abolt 22 250 but just wanted a few opinions maybe someone had one and could tell me if they like it are not thanks

Just got one saturday with leupold 4.5 x 10 x 50 mm scope for 500 cut a fat hog in ass on that shot 3 rounds in same hole today what a rifle

Most all firearms manufactures produce a 22-250, but if were me, remington 700 would b my first choice, followed up by ruger or win model 70 with a good set of optics, not some walmart $40 special. Yea the cheap scopes may work for a while, but will eventually fail n not hold zero or wont zero anymore. Zeiss, leupold, us optics, swarovski r all great optics, but zeiss n swarovski r a lil on the high price, but worth it if u got the $ yo throw down on 1. I use leupold on my rifles, mostly bc i grew up shooting through a leupold n cant afford zeiss or swarovski

^^^I believe it was Remington that had the "Sendero" (S?)

Mine was a model 700 I believe....Bull Barrel....Chambered in 22-250 Can't remember if it came with a scope. Don't think it did. Think I put a big one on it. Bought it for varmint hunting...just didn't hunt that much.

It WAS a tack driver though.

Yea a good scope has a lot to do with it. I looked through a smitten bender " spelling" last year and that thing was real nice as are the ziess and swavorskis. What it is I got a ruger 22 hornet a buddy of mine really wants and he has it now and called me this morning and told me to go get me another rifle on his tab of the same value and it would be like a trade. That's why I was kinda asking about them before I went in the store and had to spend half a day being un decisive and would kinda already know what I wanted I'd guess somewhere around 700-800$.

Have u ever shot a 204 I know u asked about a 22-250 but it sounds like u may have a choice I have both in the same model I Luke the 204 better

Yep...back then the Sendero was...$899 I think. Scope and all it cost me almost $1500

Should be cheaper now.

Kevin I have never shot a 204 or never been around one as far as I know are they center fire and what kind of range do they have. Yes I have some options but I want to keep it in the lower calibers so my wife and if I ever have any kids want to hunt I want have to buy another gun in the future. I have a 243 and 223 but it's hard to find bullets for them around here but I see quiet a few 22 250 bullets still on the shelf every now and then so that's one other thing I was looking at are the 204 bullets common or they hard to come by

No u can find 204 bullets pretty easy they are a smaller caliber just a tad smaller than a 22-250 they are super fast pushing 4250 fps deadly accurate and fun to shoot not the best choice for a windy day

we have the 22-250 in the Remington model 700 classic and really like it...my wife, kids and grand children have killed many a deer with it...my favorite for its accuracy...Remington used to make a classic every year for a different caliber but don't do it any more...Charles has good advice but I would consider a nikon scope for a lower priced scope that works pretty good...

All the models, Ruger, Remington, Browning, are all good rifles for the money & most will shoot a 1" group at a 100 yards. If you have some trigger work done you can beat that & also & free float the barrel. On Rugers you dont have to beacuse of the way they were designed.
  If you can find a Kliengunther rifle, it is one of the most accurate riffles made. Made by Robert Kliengunther out of Seguin(sp.) Texas. He no longer makes them but they are custom made rifles & you can still find some at gun shows. They do not leave his shop unless they will shoot a 1/2", 3 shot group at a 100 yards.

 22-250 has killed a lot of deer in my neck of the woods my daughter hunts with one and wife.rem700 hard to beat.

I have a 22-250 remington. Its a good shooting gun. If you are wanting to shoot deer the 204 is illegal or it is in LA anyway to deer hunt with.

 my factory rem 700 270 and 308 were shooting less than 1/2" moa (cutting the bullet hole from the previous shot) rite out of the box. if I had to spend the money on a custom gun to get sub moa, I would have get rid of the rifles and just use a my bow from then on out. a lot of the times, 8/10 its the shooter, not the gun causing the crappy grouping and free floating is easy to do, and learning where the trigger breaks is the key to not having to get a trigger job, even though a liter trigger sometimes helps, IF ur shooting matches (not the flame/heat producing matches). high winds will affect that bullet, and it aint a brush round either, a twig 1/2 the size of a #2 pencil will blow the bullet up, but they are great long range bullets or high shock/low energy value.

I think I'm gonna go with the 22 250 all I've heard is good things about them I'm gonna stop by the gun store tomorrow on my way home and see what all he has to offer in that caliber.
