the dog of mine that recently had 13 pups and survived is in some pretty bad pain. about 5 days ago i pulled the pups away from her as they started completly on dry dog food and she was no longer feeding her. she has been in real good shape until today she will not get up. yesterday i noticed her back breast had swelled up pretty good but i thought it was ok. today she will not get up because it is swollen really good and hard as a rock? ive heard about the infection that they get but was unsure if it was it becuase the pups were already off, or if it was normal for the first couple days of drying up process?

Sounds like mastisis (sp?) its an infection in the teat. My lab had the same thing a couple years back, i ended up bringin her to the vet and they gave anyibiotics and told me to soak a towel in hot hot water and use it to massage the teat in order to help relieve pressure.
