Went t and fed the dogs this afternoon and my year old male has a red eye and the fur underneath is pretty wet.  No puss and didnt see much drainage.  I looked up cherry eye and dont think thats is the case.  No swelling its just red almost like a kid that has been rubbing his eye.  Anybody got any ideas. Started him on some penicillin just as a precaution.

Might just be something in his eye. They sell some stuff at feed stores or where ever i think for animals eyes!!! Maybe vetricyn!!

Thought about that but both eyes seem to be runny but only one is red.  Might just be the weather, front ame in last night and been crummy weather all day.

Could be a simple irritation. Dirt or something got in there and irritated him, hence the drainage/tearing. Flush it out with warm water.

JMO, but I would try the warm water flush and slip them a Benadryl.

my bulldog does that when he spends too much time on hay in the winter , i think its alergies ?   x2 on the benadryl    its seems to help him quite a bit

 yep many things could be the problem . I all ways keep the eye flush around the house for the dogs AND ME  lol  you can get it in any pharmacy and wally wood , it's cheap and comes in mighty handy . it's just a saline solution .
