Is there a strategy to hunting cane breaks.....had hogs in one just after dark with only 3 dogs and never got one.....small hogs just too fast in the thick stuff( and I mean thick!) was like trying to catch an F-16 with a 747.
Advice?
other info: cane break backed up to a creek with a field on the other side.

We hunt canebrakes all the time. Believe me, the hog has all the advantage whether he wants to run or bay. For all those people who have dogs that can stop any running hog, Canes are the place to test them. If a hog gets one jump on a dog he is gone & unless he wants to stop, a dog just is not going to be able to stop him. That being said, we have caught a lot of hogs in canes & got a lot of dogs busted up because it is so thick.

Thank you Cajun.
This looks like a good place for a trap just to show the farmer some results and maybe a green light after dark to see how big they are & if there are a couple sizable hogs just take them out with a rifle and then turn loose every dog I can get my hands on.
These hogs are tossing a farmers best hay field I gotta try something!

Man those river canes are the worst. I had a good dog that bays super loose and hardly ever gets banged up cut in that stuff. Tough to run to the bay too. I feel ya
