There is a meeting in Van Nuys Ca. Jan. 15 by the Wildlife Resources Committee [whatever that is] to discuss the banning of dogs in taking any mammal. Any Californians on here better take notice.

The slipperly slope.... the new data shows a 50% reduction in bear hunts and that's what the anti's wanted... the real data will be the increased depredation and maulings coming.

If this passes it could be sure to be looked at in other states. Hopefully not.

What bothers me is that the system is set up in their favor...one day hunting dogs will be a thing of the past...

They don't come after every thing all at once. They change little things one at a time like catching in a pen then no tethering and pretty soon it's so much trouble people quit keepin dogs and there are less and less people fightin them. You may think that they can never change things in Texas and you may be right but every year there are more folks in cities and less in the country and those city folk think a dog should live in the house so he can't get hurt. The 3 west coast states now have so many liberals in the few big cities that they can dang near vote any crap in they want and the rest of the rural part of the state is stuck with it. In Oregon and Washington you can't hunt bear or cougar with dogs and can't even legally trap a dang gopher cause of these campaigns by the treehuggers.

Alot of folks don't keep up with all the proposals and such, and that's no good these days. Gotta try and stay on top on all these things, and take the time to show up and speak up and fight for what we believe in. If no one speaks up, they'll have a field day just voting our rights away. Another reason why it's good to join up with local hunting dog organizations and band together. Strength in numbers.

Need to start training wild dogs/coyotes to attack the genitals of these politicians and antis'.
The lack of hunting and keeping the wildlife in check will cause an over population of them and then start encroching more into populated areas, bringing more predators and more predator attacks on humans, then the antis' will b!t€h about to many animals and predators.

yep kid7  you keep on a thinking that !!  I'm old and I will still live to see hound hunting a thing of the past before I die  .  I do so very much hope all of you young hunters are registered voters because the anti hunting is pretty much a democrat thing and if ya'll don't vote and you let a bunch of democrats take control in the texas legislative process and it will all be over quicker than you think .

this is 2014 folks , one of the most important voting years we have had in a long , long time , choose your candidates wisely .

Thats exactly how they do it. Just one little thing at a time to reduce numbers, then they just vote you down. In CA they just passed Statewide Lead Ammo Ban for ALL FIREARM HUNTING! Just ridiculous. Liberal Tree huggers are kiiling us!!! Oregon unfortunately is just following CA's lead, doesn't help that portland is by far one of the most liberal cities in the U.S.

Your 100%, just read an article on yahoo that Texas might finally go blue with those two Female candidates who are democrats. I was like WOW not cause their women but because of the democrat thing. I was thinking no way they go blue, thats how it all starts! I hope I don't offend anyone, not my intention JMHO

I hope your right! But the problem with that is that the anti's can just go right around your state law and pass a federal act, I believe they did something like that for the cockfighting laws. I could be wrong on that but still you get the point.  But if it becomes federal then all bets are off your done and not much you can do about it.

Exactly...that what I meant when I said the system is on their side...I used to believe that the majority should rule...I have now changed my mind...

I believe this is how it should be...

if you are an anti hunter...then practice it...

If your are a hunter...practice it...

As long as the hunter and fisherman abide by rules that manages the resources there shouldn't be any issues...

One group should not have the authority to impose their beliefs on another group...

Europe to California to the rest of the nation. That's the way the laws and ideas go. Look at gay marriage and marijuana. As stated, we are a dying breed. I try to take children and folks who've never been dogging so others will understand the sport. Most hunters will sit around and complain as our rights are taken away. One day hog doggin will be something that is spoken of as something grandfathers and great grandfathers once did.

Every dog running state in the country will be under attack. Peta will go after the dog hunters first but we all know their goal is to stop all hunting.
Fla. was one of the biggest dog running states in the country. They ran deer, rabbits, coon, bear, fox, hogs, You name it with dogs yet Gov. Lawton Chiles caved in to the antis when they complained that the black bear was endangered & stopped bear hunting in Fla. This was about 15 years or so ago.
In the 1960's Mn. decided to stop bear hunting with hounds  for a couple of years for a trial period. Guess what, they never got their dog season back. Once you lose something, that's it when it comes to dog hunting, it's gone.
The best thing you can do, join your state dog ass. NRA & any other groups that are going to support your rights as a hunter & a gun owner. This is going to be a long fight & Peta is taking it state by state. Even if it is not your state, you can show your support, because believe me, sooner or later, it will come to your state.
Like said above, this will be dicided in cities where the majority rule.

Reuben, you made me chuckle.  In the large picture, you are right.  One group should not impose their beliefs upon the other.  But  ...  change the topic and you might find that your view of what we should allow changes.    For all of us, me included.  It is hard to balance one's beliefs/views on a particular topic with not creating laws/rules/regs that impose them on others who have different views.

On this topic, I do not like the direction and erosion of our hunting rights.  They are slowly being whittled away.  As our population has grown, so has the concentration of it.  People living in more urban and suburban areas relative to rural.  So they aren't exposed to hunting/fishing/trapping, etc. ... so they have no affinity for it.  This trend will continue.
