We cut some boars over a year ago, they weighed between 40-70lbs probably. We turned them loose behind my house. A few weeks ago a hog showed up at my house and we caught him Saturday night. He weighed 192 and turned out to be a Barr. Could it be one of the pigs we turned loose? We thought we ear marked them but may have missed some.

Tuff question to answer.  A lot depends on the region you are in and diet (how much protein and food the hog consumes).  Also probably depends on hunting pressure.

Young boars typically increase in weight faster than older boars, I would think the same hold true to barrs.  I think 120-150 mpounds per year may be a little high, but just my guess.  I would think 80-100 pounds would be closer to right; if good food sources are available and the hog is not dogged a lot.

Its a possibility if they have had plenty to eat. We have caught a handful that we had cut over the years and on average we figured them gaining 100 pounds and an inch of teeth per year. This is my opinion on the subject based on my experience.  Britt Garcia
